“भय बिन होत न प्रीत।” एक अधिकारी द्वारा एक गरीब ड्राइवर को अपने सिर से मारकर उसकी आँख फोड़ दी जाती है, और मीडिया में आलोचना होने के बाद केवल निलंबन का आदेश जारी कर दिया जाता है। कुछ समय बाद, जब जनता का आक्रोश शांत हो जाता है, ऐसे कार्मिक को किसी अच्छी जगह पर पुनः नियुक्त कर मानो उपहार दे दिया जाता है। क्या एक ड्राइवर की जान की कीमत केवल निलंबन भर है? ऐसे लोगों को बिना किसी यदि–किन्तु के सीधे स्थायी रूप से सेवा से बर्खास्त किया जाना चाहिए। इस समय परिवहन विभाग की घोर लापरवाही के कारण प्रदेश के अनेक परिवार उजड़ रहे हैं। अनियंत्रित सार्वजनिक परिवहन, अधिकारियों की मिलीभगत, भ्रष्टाचार की चरम सीमा, और निजी बस संचालकों के दबाव में निष्पक्ष कार्रवाई का अभाव ये सब मिलकर स्थिति को और भयावह बना रहे हैं। विभाग मानो केवल औपचारिकता निभाने के लिए एक-दो निलंबन कर अपनी जिम्मेदारी से पल्ला झाड़ लेता है। आखिर इसका जिम्मेदार कौन है? दुर्घटनाओं में उजड़ते परिवारों की चीखों का उत्तरदायी कौन है? आम आदमी के जीवन में बढ़ती इन त्रासदियों का जवाबदेह कौन है?
