Holy shit. I just saw someone in a coffee shop writing hand written code. No AI agents. He was typing into the editor directly. I almost wanted to go up to him and ask him why.

Second time deploying Hummingbird app to Railway did not take that long. Also, just finished recording the complete section on deployment. Few more videos to record. I think the Hummingbird video course can be available next week. Excited to release this course.

@thisismahmoud @ivatokar The Swift build on the cloud took a long time and failed twice. I had to create the image locally and upload to Railway. After that variables start acting up. Took few hours to figure things out.

@azamsharp @ivatokar > was having issues with Railway. Lots of steps and lots of headaches. Would love to learn more about your experience. What can we do better?

Finally after 5 hours my Hummingbird server is deployed to Railway along with database. This was an experience to remember :)

@ivatokar It was first time deployment so I tried different approaches and many failed. After that was having issues with Railway. Lots of steps and lots of headaches.

@azamsharp Congrats on getting it deployed. But 5 hours sounds unreal for this kind of app. My Vapor deploys to AWS ECS are usually around 20 minutes, even with many dependencies, Linux packages, Lambdas, and other services. Would be interesting to see where the time went.

I was recently a guest on Swift With Walid podcast. We talked about Apple Foundation Model Framework. It was quite an interesting discussion. We discussed the purpose of on-device models, generables, app architecture and much more. You can watch it here: youtu.be/UeZfiKBHUCs?si… #iosdev #swiftlang

@ivatokar Deployment is extremely painful and extremely long process.

@azamsharp Would love to see a video or article from you on this. Especially the boring production details: Dockerfile, release build, Swift runtime deps, CI, and what actually breaks during deploy.

Deployment is the most painful part of Swift on the server 😢😢

@azamsharp What hurts most in your case? Building a small Docker image, Swift runtime deps, provisioning the host, CI build time, or doing zero-downtime deploys?

@StemFoxIO Yes. I Vibe Coded few of my very small micro apps and the code quality is horrendous.

@azamsharp One of my favorite examples of this was in a personal project. I'd been working with Claude at changing some behavior. Was reviewing the code and noticed 4 variables with similar names. I re-prompted asking if they were all necessary (I knew it could be done with one). 🙄

I think developers need to ride out this AI wave. Eventually companies will realize that most code generated by AI is not that great and even though it works, it is hard to maintain and 10X in size.

@barkermeister I think so. But even with advanced AI and high quality code, developers must understand the implementation.

@azamsharp Do you think that improvements over time will diminish these areas of concern that you’ve mentioned?

@yktvmich Same with frontier. So I never pick my seat and never check in or add carry on bag. Only backpack.

My thing with Spirit was your ticket could be $75, but by the time you add your bag, seat, and gas for the plane, you paying $300 like any other airline.
