Our Movie Monday went by so fast, appropriate since our last Casting Call is for a #TheFlash movie, featuring no cast members from the 1990 TV series, which is a real disappointment. But what do you think otherwise?

@SD_Comic_Con I never try for hall H. As cool as the events are, it is not worth spending the entire con in line. I wish SDCC would just do a lottery like they do for exclusives.

Bernie Sanders got an $800k book advance. He used that money to buy a third home.
The Vermont Food Bank says 2 in 5 Vermonters suffer food insecurity. Sanders’ book advance could have provided 3,000,000 meals.
Bernie Sanders’ greed is *literally* starving children in Vermont.
Sen. Bernie Sanders@SenSanders
Sergey Brin is worth $276 billion. He could save healthcare for 3 million people. Instead, he’s spending $82 million against California’s 5% billionaire wealth tax. He’d rather see low-income Americans die & suffer than pay his fair share of taxes. That is a moral obscenity.

@SD_Comic_Con Will we get emails saying which events we won in the portal?

For the UCC Matt Dinniman signing, you can bring one item of anything you'd like to be signed, if you won the portal signing. #SDCC

@TheBatHome The movie did not fail due to any of “-ists” that are accused of tanking it. Supergirl is a c list character who has never had a series go past #80. She has no defining stories or memorable villains of her own. Her comics fan base is tiny beyond her being drawn cute.

I honestly don’t understand how it turned into such a box office disaster.

‘SUPERGIRL’ has made only $115M worldwide so far on a $180M budget.

@SD_Comic_Con can we get CGC witnessed signatures at this or any other event?

I think it’s kinda awesome that DSA recruiters will have an easier time signing up trust fundy Ivy League sociology grad students than Costco cashiers.

Many thousands of Costco’s U.S. hourly workers have over $1 million in their 401(k) accounts, per WSJ

DC spent $170 million making Supergirl and another $120 million marketing it. The movie opened to just $37 million domestically and $62 million worldwide. It needs $315 million to break even and is projected to lose between $100 and $125 million when all is said and done. Critics gave it a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences gave it a B minus. Only 15% of women under 25 showed up, the exact demographic the movie was made for. The second weekend dropped 74%. Hollywood keeps making dark preachy superhero movies nobody asked for and then acts shocked when nobody shows up. The audience has spoken and they are done pretending otherwise.

This was a talking point from the 1950s, when defense was a much larger share of the federal budget, and people just repeat it without checking to see if it's true.
Andrew Follett@AndrewCFollett
Defense is 8% of US government spending. Education 15%! Welfare is 47%!
