Hoe absurd is het Nederlandse toeslagen-systeem? Elana de alleenstaande moeder (31) met twee jonge kinderen krijgt €4,300 netto per maand aan uitkeringen en toeslagen. Dat is €51,600 per jaar — volledig belastingvrij voor haar. Om datzelfde bedrag zelf passief te genereren met beleggen, heb je volgens de 4%-regel (zonder enige belasting) al €1,290,000 vermogen nodig. Maar in Nederland heb je box 3. Je trekt 4% van je vermogen op (bruto), maar betaalt daarnaast ieder jaar vermogensbelasting over je hele portfolio (forfaitair 6% rendement × 36% tarief). Resultaat? Om na aftrek van box 3 alsnog €51,600 netto over te houden, heb je ruim €2,870,000 nodig! Meer dan twee keer zoveel vermogen. Kort samengevat: - Zonder vermogen → de overheid geeft je €51,600 netto per jaar - Met vermogen → je hebt €2,87 miljoen nodig voor hetzelfde netto inkomen Dit laat perfect zien hoe pervers het systeem werkt. De overheid creëert een enorme prikkel om toeslagen te stapelen in plaats van te werken en vermogen op te bouwen. Nederland 2026: waar de staat sommige mensen beter betaalt dan de markt ooit zou doen en de hardwerkende, sparende burger mag opdraaien voor de rekening. En toch wordt er als maar met afzien gekeken naar mensen met kapitaal. Hoeveel mensen werken er eigenlijk nog voor dit geld?

Mostly true. What matters is securing the long-term future of consciousness, both on Earth and other heavenly bodies. We cannot just focus on Earth, because there are irreducible external (eg massive meteor) and internal (eg global nuclear war) cataclysmic risks. The Moon is faster to make self-growing, but is more susceptible to problems on Earth. Mars will take longer to make self-growing, because it is so hard to reach, but is more secure from Earth disasters for that same reason. Both the Moon and Mars should have self-growing civilizations. Making this happen is the prime directive of SpaceX.
