From the day chicks are purchased, they typically reach market weight within five to eight weeks. This means that in less than two months, a farmer can sell the birds, recover the initial investment, and immediately begin another cycle. Because this process can be repeated several times within a year, poultry farming creates a steady and rapid flow of income. The farmer is not forced to wait long before which makes it particularly attractive for individuals who need quick financial returns or who are working with limited capital. Fish farming, by contrast, follows a much slower biological timeline. Species such as catfish or tilapia require several months, often between four and seven months before they reach a size that is acceptable for the market. During this period, the farmer must continue investing in feed and maintenance without receiving any immediate income.
