The mindset of "big fics" or "big artists" in a fandom had literally given me mental break downs in every fandom space cause it encourages competitiveness in creating and hoping that you'll "finally" do something worthy of being liked, but its never enough

feels like there’s this problem across mediums where a lot of online people feel like their morality is directly tied to their media consumption rather than like, the things they actually do

People who contribute nothing to fandoms will drive away artists and writers and then follow that up by complaining about how no new content is getting made, or how the community is growing smaller, like they didn't play a part in that outcome

and so what if it remains unfinished? a fic that never finishes doesn't stop me from loving the chapters that i did read and am caught up with. things change and peoples lives change, it's okay.

fic writers extend the boundaries of the original material and give us a window into their imagination and the world that they see is possible for the characters. (in a time of genAI, it only makes it more badass that someone is spending the time to write to begin with!)

i do not care because i love fic and fandom. i love an ongoing fic and finished fic. i love fics that are abandoned and ones where the author wrote out everything in a doc and forgot to post the last 4 chapters.
