The match was phenomenal, but behind the cheers was silent dedication. Over 4,093 personnel of @GujaratPolice were deployed in and around the stadium to ensure every fan experienced the game safely. From senior officers to ground staff, your commitment to duty deserves equal applause. Thank you & congratulations!

Three of my earliest cricket memories are all from 1996: • Venkatesh Prasad doing this to Aamir Sohail • An inconsolable Vinod Kambli at the Eden Gardens • Srinath and Kumble's batting partnership vs Aus in the Titan Cup What is your earliest cricket memory?

The banana plant is not a tree — it is a giant herbaceous plant. What looks like a trunk is the pseudostem, formed by the tightly overlapping bases of its leaf sheaths. 🌿 Understanding its anatomy helps make sense of how it grows, even in temperate gardens. Flag leaf: the last leaf produced before flowering. Its appearance signals that the bunch is already forming inside the pseudostem — the plant is committed to fruiting. Adult leaf: powers the photosynthesis that fills the fruit. Every leaf lost to wind damage or disease directly reduces the final weight of the bunch. Leaf blade (lamina): the wide flat part of the leaf, crossed by a prominent midrib, with an upper surface (adaxial) and a lower surface (abaxial). Pseudopetiole: the section connecting the leaf blade to the pseudostem. Pseudostem: the false trunk, built entirely from tightly rolled leaf bases wrapped around each other. It can reach between 6 and 25 feet depending on variety, but contains no woody tissue whatsoever. Bunch (bunch of hands): the complete fruit structure. Each row of bananas is a hand, and each individual banana is a finger. A bunch carries between 6 and 14 hands depending on variety and growing conditions. Female flower hands: these develop into the hands of fruit. The female flowers open first and are the ones that set fruit. Flower heart (male inflorescence): the pendant bud at the end of the bunch, containing the male flowers. In tropical cuisines it is cooked as a vegetable. Sucker (pup): the lateral shoot emerging from the rhizome. This is the primary method of propagation — the parent plant dies after fruiting and the sucker takes over. Rhizome: the true underground stem of the plant, from which both the roots and the suckers originate. Roots: fibrous and shallow, concentrated in the top 12 inches of soil — which is why bananas need consistent surface moisture and do not compete well with deep-rooted plants. In the US, banana plants can be grown in the ground year-round in zones 8 to 11. In zones 5 to 7, Musa basjoo — the Japanese fiber banana — is the most cold-hardy ornamental variety, surviving to around -10F with heavy mulching over the rhizome. Ensete ventricosum and Musa sikkimensis are other cold-tolerant options for northern gardens grown as summer tropicals in containers. 🌿 Not a tree. Not a palm. A giant herb that fruits once and hands the garden to its children. #fyp #gameday #comunityevent #darkhumor Sammayorgreenfild

Jaspreet Bumrah was born/stays in ahmedabad, speaks fluent Gujarati and plays for Gujarat. Experts consider him a talent like Donald Bradman, once in a century talent. Hardik Pandya stays in Baroda ( a twin city of Ahmedbad about 110 KM away / ~ one and half hour drive ) Akshar Patel stays in Nadiad ( ~ 57 KM away / under an hours drive ) Three player ~ 27 % of team playing in this final are from Ahmedabad or surround area which represents under 1 % of India’s population. Can this happen without a sporting culture ? Infact not many people would know but the first time cricket in the subcontinent was played in Khambhat ( Englishman’s pronounced it as Cambay ) few centuries ago, when the English crew of a waiting ship played the game. India, unlike, many western paradigms cannot be analysed in black and white, in linear equations or algorithms. It has to be felt, embraced and understood.
Krishna Anand@KrishnaAnand_

Ahmedabad is not a sporting city, it never has been. That’s why every time there’s a final played there, more than 50% crowd is from outside the city. There’s no sporting culture, vibe. Just making the largest stadium might bring you gate revenues but it doesn’t bring you support or success for India.

My Aaji must be somewhere up there, looking down at me and laughing. Proper full-volume laughing. My daughter was born exactly a year after she passed away, so honestly, I’m beginning to suspect this is reincarnation… with unfinished business. Possibly vengeance. And to be fair… I probably deserve it. Because I now clearly remember coming back from school, sitting exactly like this, with my plate in front of me, negotiating with Aaji about every single bite. History doesn’t repeat itself. It reincarnates. Scene at home right now: One tiny human. One plate of food. Thirty minutes. Exactly two morsels eaten. And negotiations are underway. “It's spicy. I need jaggery.” Now this is not a request. This is a diplomatic summit. Because if I say yes, she will eat ONLY jaggery. If I say no, she will eat NOTHING. If I insist, tears. If I ignore, silent protest. If I lovingly explain, counter-arguments. If I scold, emotional damage (mostly mine). So far my parenting strategy has included: ✅ scolding ✅ begging ✅ emotional appeal ✅ logical reasoning ✅ fake indifference ✅ excessive affection ✅ silent staring at the wall questioning life choices Meanwhile, madam is calmly sitting like a seasoned negotiator, fully aware that time is on her side and my patience is not. Somewhere above, Aaji must be nodding knowingly, “Now you understand.” Parenting lesson of the day: You don’t raise children. You complete karmic cycles… one reluctant morsel at a time. Send help. Or jaggery. I am no longer sure which side I’m on. Now it’s 1 hour.
