@baasamas what app do you use?
English

hello, i was directed to this post. (i’m the oop. this is an old post and my method has changed a lot, but i’ll try lol)
it’s less about the skin color and more about having a “base” color to *unify* the palette. attached a quick sketch+color here. 👆😝

@katkiri_ei So hey, what if are 2+ character with dif skin colors? I have an unique pallete for each? Or I make a medium color of their skins?? Help😭😭
English

@ErnestoMantaras i imagine there are more variables with 3d, photography, etc so maybe this method wouldn’t apply very wellon those. but i think, like i said in another reply, it’s more like a training wheel to help you learn to see and pick cohesive color palettes.
English

@baasamas For sure! You're probably gonna be mixing from these base, harmonized colors so it's the better path. I guess I was more thinking in terms of 3D shading and how I process those stages (as well as how art production + photography work on top of the previous one) to unify a scene.
English

@baasamas Ooh like underpainting, but for digital art!
English

@SkyProwler01 i’ve never personally tried it. but tbh my goal was to learn to color pick via eyeball, and this method is basically like training wheels. so trying to find a workaround would defeat the point. 🚲
English

@baasamas Would you get the same effect if you drew normally them made a dpublicate of the drawing, turn it into a soldid colored silhouette then make it transparent over the og drawing?
English

@ErnestoMantaras good q! probably. but i think it’s more intuitive in digital art to make base solid colors that you paint over anyway rather than go straight to local color everything. also in my case, i reserve top layers for blend modes like multiply for shadows, etc.
English

@baasamas I get that of course you have more control and make other creative decisions as you paint based on your initial colors, but if used as a blanket technique like in your example, wouldn't the result be exactly the same by putting a 20% orange layer on top of everything at the end?

考え方が合ってるかわからないのですが、こちらのポストをを参考にさせて頂いたら色選びに革命が起こりました…!
