it's very important to live a virtuous life. work hard, be a good friend, hold to your principles, respect and build up your colleagues, ascend the kardashev scale, conquer the high frontier

"building the infrastructure of the future" means that i should be able to put in a logistics request for medium power poles on the moon and have launches automatically enqueued to deliver them to me

@lougrims AI datacenters will never work because all the phlogiston in the GPUs leaks out when exposed to vacuum

The whole AI datacenter in space discourse is so bad. You have illiterate AI bros being dunked on by people who took high school physics (space is not cold! vacuum in an insulator!). Themselves being dunked on by STEM graduates (Stefan-boltzmann! only 100m^2 of radiators!). 1/2

I was brainstormign ideas for what to put on her shirt with my client. At first I was thinking of a simple stylized wild flower like the ones I pass on my bike rides all the time. I put them in a lot of paintings because they are beautiful, but also extremely tenatios and tough and seem to be able to survive anywhere. They make a nice symbol for humanity. Anyway, I was describing these flowers (arrowleaf balsamroot are the ones that grow here) and my client said "Oh...like dandilions)...and I immediately thought of the dandilion puffball sending its seeds out on the wind to grow and thrive wherever they land...and I thought...this is the perfect visual metaphor for humanity spreading to the stars. We can put down roots and thrive wherever we land. I love the idea so much I actually made a t-shirt design in affinity designer.

For the past several months, I’ve had a commission in the works that I’ve been dying to share details about. I agreed, however, to refrain from posting until the painting was completely finished. Not easy for me, particularly when I’m excited about a project. Well, last week I was able to apply the final coat of varnish, this week I had the painting professionally photographed, and today, I am extremely excited to present: ‘Wendy the Welder’ 40x52 inches, oil on aluminum composite panel. Inspired by and a modern day tribute to ‘Rosie the Riveter’ by Norman Rockwell, Wendy honors the technicians, integrators, and engineers who are tirelessly working to extend the reach of humanity to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

@briantimar @mihirneal Well, I don't think we'll have a high ratio of gpu clusters working on solving ad spend. Hopefully not, at least. The concentration of talent at meta and Google working on these problems for the past decade should go down as a huge waste of resources
