Reece James injured, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier retired internationally and now the withdrawal of Jarell Quansah (seen as right-back cover by Tuchel). And Alexander-Arnold still not called. Real Madrid's right-back in the Champions League. A player whose passing can change games. A tournament shootout penalty-taker. White drafted into squad because of injury to Quansah. Be interesting to see the reaction of England fans - let alone Alexander-Arnold. White has to explain why he turned his back on England for three and a half years. Expect some skilled FA video content. Gareth Southgate said in March 2024 that White had indicated to him that he didn't want to be considered for England. There's always been speculation about a fall-out between White and Southgate's assistant Steve Holland (Southgate denied this). Tuchel clearly doesn't rate Alexander-Arnold, a situation that gets ever stranger. White obviously a more defensive full-back; can get forward but lacks Alexander-Arnold's impact. He did well when coming on for Dani Carvajal against Atletico last night. Made Vinicius Junior's second goal. Harvey Barnes, who has one cap, comes in for the injured Eberechi Eze for the squad to face Uruguay on Friday and Japan on March 31. #ENG

I see that along with the usual troll-reactions justifying this morning's attack with reference to the actions of a state 4000 miles away, there's also now a fair amount of far-right "this is all your fault because immigration is a Jewish idea you Jewish cunt" posts. Interesting.

Wondering if the hearts of those frustrated by small acts of petty symbolism, by the feeling that smashed windows and graffiti on bakeries are simply not enough, are cheered by the upgrade to burning ambulances this morning.

Trent Alexander-Arnold plays right-back for Real Madrid. Started home and away against Manchester City. He won the Premier League and Champions League at right-back with Liverpool. He’s used to dealing with pressure. He’s taken a decisive tournament penalty. He’s played in the World Cup before. He has occasional defensive deficiencies but he brings a long-range passing skill that few possess. Are England that blessed at right-back that they don’t need Alexander-Arnold? That he isn’t amongst the best 30 outfield players available to Thomas Tuchel?

Some may be surprised by how all the men in @louistheroux 's Manosphere doc turn out to be antisemites, but it follows from their logic. First, obviously, Jew hatred is clickbait, but more importantly, these men promote versions of themselves as brave mavericks unafraid to stick it to the feminised liberal Establishment - and as such, they need an embodiment of power to kick against - one that they, in their I-don’t-give-a-fuck performance, are smashing through. They need the myth of the Matrix. They begin with women as the control but soon they move on to Jews, who provide a darker mythology of control for them to perform being not-controlled by.
