Edward Kenway's story is stronger than Ezio Auditore's. Ezio is the hero with a coming of age story, followed by being a role model of a master assassin, then a wise yet reckless mentor. Whereas Edward is the Anti-Hero. I'd argue his story relates more to us. A man driven by ambition to a fault, chasing literal gold & being so adamant on scoring it, that he left his family behind. It took him reaching rock bottom to realize that the real treasure is family. That is why Edward is a beloved character in Assassin's Creed. He was no assassin to start with, but damn it, we felt for him and hopefully, learned from his cautionary tale.
