I remember when folks here on music twitter were having this huge debate were they were saying they can't give a producer 50%. And it trended for like 3 days cos the conversation was hot. I remember screenshotting a couple tweets where a couple artistes were basically saying that 50% is too much, and their reason for saying this is because, they felt that: as an artiste you'll pay for the beat, which isn't cheap by the way, you'll also pay for the promotion and marketing, you'll shoot your music videos etc... you're the one who will bear any loss and you're the one who will hustle for the money to do all the promotion, so why should you give a producer 50% of your publishing royalties for producing a song for you? So, this video is them addressing that issue that most folks behind the scenes don't really talk about. The clearing and publishing. Artistes using their management as a front to cover their tracks. Like in this video, Sarz who is the artiste told his management to share 10% between the producer and the songwriter and also act like he had no idea about it. Bnxn confronts him about it, he denies it and blames it on his management. In reality, most artistes would do this and stall for so long until the producer, who is low-key desperate to see his music being put out breaks and renegotiates from a place of weakness. I love how interactive, engaging and educative these videos are. If they will not tweet or talk about the things happening in the industry on a podcast or rant about it on the timeline... They can as well act it out for the world to see... "The Game Needs Us" at this point is turning into something more than just music. These guys have seen it all and done it all... and here they are, giving you guys free game. Only the observant can truly gain from this.
