Millennials who are very cavalier about not having children are in for a shock when they enter their 40s & realize life is only half over. What do you do at that point? Keep trying to be sexy & have fun? I expect to see a lot of sadness & confusion about what to do at that point.

Our education system has such outdated notions of human potential. We need to revise our education philosophy so it's more in line with a systems model. Human development is dynamic, nonlinear, and probabilistic. Standard predictive models of success and life outcomes won't hold.

Universities oversell two things: prestige and the experience. The experience isn't dependent on the school. I hate to break it to you. It's the people you surround yourself with. The prestige is overrated. Go to a school you can afford that aligns with your pursuits/interests.

Novice runners tend to go too hard on the easy days and too easy on the hard days. Same thing occurs in the office. We spend too much time, energy & effort on emails, meetings, etc. We don't block off enough time for the deep work that leads to actual progress & growth.

There’s a lot wrong with education. But it’s often not what you hear in the media or from politicians. Step one is simple, yet hard. Treat teachers with respect. Stop seeing them as babysitters for your kids. Raise their status. Figure out how to retain more talent.
