From 28 April 2026, all new laptops sold in the European Union must include USB-C charging ports. The EU introduced this rule to standardise chargers and make them easier for everyone to use. The same requirement has been in place for smartphones, tablets, cameras and other small devices since December 2024. Laptops received extra time because they need more power. Important note: This only applies to new models. Laptops already available in stores can continue to be sold until stock runs out. Manufacturers can still include other charging options alongside USB-C.
