I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters. I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers. It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together. Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings. Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We’ve seen it all. 🤘🏼❤️

I do want to say this about Baleba, more in-depth on the recent video on the Breakdown but Baleba is not a 6, especially when it comes to ball-handling stuff. He is an 8, his high duelling, his ball-winning, his carrying between lines, all of his USP comes as an 8. Tielemans, Santos & Kobbie all tailor themselves to more of 6 receivers esp on the ball. If you watch Baleba’s best work (Chelsea [a]) then you’ll see how much better he looks ahead of a 6 with licence to jump out & stand higher. His gait opens up much more and he has more room to work with, he’s never been that first phase midfielder. I’ve always valued him for stuff ahead of that phase of play. Hope this emphasises more so what I meant on that piece, because he will sweep up everything and with a partner who’s prepared to sit, you’ll see it look so much more effective.

Busquets is the biggest beneficiary of what I call “Football mysticism”. If you ask someone why a player isn’t better than Busquets, you don’t hear a football argument, just “He’s not”. If you press the person maybe you’ll hear “He’s more intelligent” which can’t be measured

Yes, the Americans are correct. If their best athletes played football, they will dominate it. 👍🏽 There is a reason England and France are the most dominant nations. And the United States has exactly the same juice.
