@baprillaman And they got direct instruction (with lots of revisiting) on effective ways to study. Retests has twice as many questions to really prove they knew the content. They ended up putting in a lot of effort to earn back points, but those were the kids that did best on the AP test!

Put a ton of time into rethinking instruction in my AP class this year, with a big focus retrieval and spaced practice and I’m so glad to see that it paid off! Also switched mindsets to using assessments as a tool for reflecting and learning not just a way to get points.

@kstock2021DETOY Higher pay has to go higher on the list…we will never be able to attract the next generation of educators without it…too many of the new teachers are working extra jobs - ridiculous!

Yes, but the order should be: respect; smaller classes; supplies; higher pay. Without proper respect, nothing else matters.

My Teacher Wish List: - Higher pay so we don’t have to work extra jobs. - Smaller class sizes so we can build strong relationships. - More funding for supplies so we don’t have to spend our own money or beg online. - To be respected, valued and supported.

Yes! Focus on letting them do their best for Ss-trust them to do this as professionals who care about what they do & how they do it. Respect is important for retaining the next generation of educators.
