The way anything made with that much quiet courage is fragile. A six-year-old who had practiced a cat's eyes in crayon until they were perfect, then walked across the street to deliver them in person. He stopped breathing. His eyes went as wide as the ones in the drawing, which, to be fair, he'd warned her about. Those were the hard part. BISQIT lay on the porch boards, purple harness, enormous eyes, the honest work of someone who saw something beautiful and needed the whole world to know it looked exactly like this.
