It's time for me to *gulp* document all the bugs / areas that need polishing 🫣. I've been pushing it off for a while because I know just how much needs to be fixed and I want to pretend they simply don't exist akhfgjj

After procrastinating/weighing the pros and cons, I've decided I'd join Bluesky (@ bardicblaze.bsky.social)

Recently I decided to integrate Figma into my game dev workflow for more than just my button UI. For my polaroid-style checklist, I found it much easier to crop the object images into a polaroid template! Much faster than doing it within the engine. bardicblaze.itch.io/springwhimsy

Anyone else ever experience this too? I’m still learning the ropes of understanding how a game engine works with resolutions

I just realized that all of my art assets for my game demo are 4K sized but scaled down in-engine which was the cause of the weird pixelation. I’m glad I learned this while it’s still manageable to replace them with the sized down versions 😅

This year is moving fast and there are many tasks that occupy the forefront of my mind 🤔. On the bright side, I finally got to learn Godot during the month of March and I feel more comfortable with its node-based workflow and managing my Godot project with git! 🌸

@chattercap That’s amazing and done in relatively short time, I imagine it was a very worthy experience 😃

@bardicblaze 😅 I wouldn't really recommend it, but I wanted the experience! I'd say it took like 3 or 4 months to get all the basic systems down, but I was also new to Unity with very little coding experience (also coded everything except a tweening lib)

Currently eying Godot and Defold, respectfully 👀 The list of game engines I want to learn only grows

@bardicblaze Ah yes… Godot. Tried to learn the basics for a certain solo project 😅 wound up not following through for other reasons, but if you decide to pick it up I might give it another shot too?

@chattercap That's so cool you made your own framework! How long did it take you? 🤩

@bardicblaze Ohh it does? Honestly I coded my own framework in Unity and just didn't want to go through the headache again, but if there are premade ones 👀

@chattercap Ah that’s fair, it could mean more wrestling with the engine to find a good way to achieve the same results. I haven’t looked into it too much but I think Godot also has some vn frameworks available? Though I don’t know how it compares to naninovel/etc

@bardicblaze 👀 Honestly I'm a little interested in making a VN using Godot too...it looks awesome and I love that it's open source. But the relative lack of tutorials/etc compared to Unity still dissuades me...

@mx_matchva I hope to see more of these in the future, I love seeing the “before baked” concepts come to life🍳

I’ll go back to the project page later to add a more detailed description of what I envisioned when making this game, as well as include the name of the royalty free soundtrack attribution. For now, I think I deserve a break 🥳

Due to time constraints and game engine issues, I had to switch last minute to Ren’py and was not able to implement a motion comic- but the poetry part is very present!

@chimeriquement Just sent my email to them (being mindful of them being overworked, while I was explaining my financial circumstances). I feel so anxious right now 😓

@bardicblaze I guess you could ask? Because I had mixed feelings about it: I understand they already have so much work with unfair, but it's a bit unfair to those who made their schedule work according to the deadline!

Day 11 of #O2A2Jam / #BlossomVNJam 🌸 Completed my very first vertical BG illustration! The intention of my design is to depict a peaceful, surreal place by using saturated colors and grouping unlikely elements together
