Congratulations to Councillor @GarryBridges who was elected by @mcrlabour as our new Deputy Leader alongside Councillor Joanna Midgely and our excellent Executive team. Garry has over a decade of experience as a Councillor and has served for 6 years as Executive Member for Children. He will take up the role at full Council on Wednesday. Manchester Labour is a talented group of 87, and we will collectively work hard to deliver for all of our communities right across the city 🌹

This conflict must end. We need an immediate ceasefire, hostages returned, UNRWA funded & Gaza flooded with aid. More than this, after a decade of lost hope for a better future, we must bring people together with a renewed drive for a peaceful, lasting two-state solution. #bbcqt

Politics can be brutal sometimes. Manchester Labour holds 86/96 seats but I’m saddened that my friend and colleague @RahmanCllr didn’t get back in. Luthfur has achieved so much for our city and for Longsight, a fierce advocate for culture and young people. He will be missed but I’m sure this won’t be the end for him and we will see him back in politics ✊🏼
