The data centers I service only use the gensets for backup but they test them regularly to make sure the gens, fuel tanks, pumps and controls are ready for any interruption in power… never seen one that used the gens exclusively for electricity, other than remote in Alaska where there is no or insufficient electrical infrastructure. Hospitals and large manufacturing plants do the same thing everywhere. Some large chem manufacturing areas share banks of gens in case of interruption. If you read this whole mention, you have more fortitude than I do.
