Triple lock under threat in eschatological scenarios. Government sources reveal state pensions may be cut as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ravage the earth as the end times draw inexorably near

Worst thing about AI speak (ie. le epic LinkedIn voice) is that it's a super distilled shit stew of 20 years of MBA, TED Talk and later algo-brained influencer speech patterns. The fact that kids are now growing up learning how to write through LLMs is a world historical tragedy.
ava@femtankie

Kind of irrelevant but man I’m so sick of this Claude ass prose. Talking in circles, very repetitive syntax/constructions that, in addition to immediately giving it away as AI, just sound awful

@justalexoki As someone who lives in London and complains about the crime a lot, I think this is paranoid tourist behaviour. Everyone here holds their phone out all the time.

@aramh This is why I'm sceptical of this kind of LLM use for technical matters. Reading the UUID standards informs you about the different variants and their structure. Reasoning by "ChatGPT pls halp" means you are totally at the mercy of whatever the LLM decides to include or omit.

@barrowfaustus The LLM could have at least mentioned that a real, standard compliant UUID, doesn't have 128 bits of entropy, but it failed even that. Useless.

This is a good example of LLM-induced total brain atrophy. Any programmer should be able to grasp that a UUID is a 128-bit number, there are 2^128 of those, and do any napkin maths required. By all means confirm with ChatGPT but "ChatGPT said xyz" does not constitute a check
Glauber Costa@glcst

I was planning to use UUIDs to represent the databases we have on the @tursodatabase Cloud. I got a bit worried that we would perhaps run out of UUIDs. I just double-checked and I think we'll be fine for the next year or so. Will use UUIDs for now, and if needed, rearchitect later.

@glcst If you seriously think this needs a "powerful brain" I have no confidence in whatever you're selling

@RichardDawkins Wondering if anyone else has been affected by any of the issues in Kafka's The Metamorphosis? At the moment I'm just putting out feelers.

@SheriefFYI To clarify my stance on issues and bug reports: 1. Finding issues with LLMs is fair game, should be encouraged 2. Minimal reproducible examples should be at the very least human-audited and not slop 3. Accompanying prose must be human-written, no exceptions

@SheriefFYI No LLM-generated text for issues or comments is a no-brainer imo. For code contributions it's unclear to me whether it's the right decision, but I can understand their reasoning given the huge increase in noise compared to signal it entails

I was amazed when he sang two high D-flats in the Petrarchan sonnet 104. I thought he might have been ad-libbing or had transposed the song upwards like he does for many Fauré songs, but the high D-flats really are in the score.

Second time seeing Cyrille Dubois at Wigmore after discovering him through his Fauré complete songs set... it was extraordinary, one of the best concerts I've been to in recent memory. His rendition of the Liszt Petrarchan sonnet settings was breathtaking.
