After years of fighting for cops in the Western Cape to get functioning radios in order to communicate with each other, especially in the Cape Flats and some specialised units, I am told that the @SAPoliceService Anti-Gang Unit still DOES NOT have radios. So this is the so-called 'elite' squad of cops that are meant to take on some of the most notorious criminals in South Africa with no way of communicating whilst on duty. It also means they cannot communicate with other cops, units and stations while operating in certain areas. They operate blind. They don't have the vehicles they need and many of the vehicles they have are almost not roadworthy (some don't even have working sirens) and the large majority of the unit doesn't even have specialised training to be part of AGU. The SAPS-AGU does not even have a commander (again). I say it again as I have before, the SAPS management deliberately neglects certain units as these units would mean that corruption on higher levels would be exposed. A good example is Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear's assassination. We need to #RescueSA, it is very sick, very broken. Let's keep pushing.
