Legend (1985) I love this 80s movie! Or rather I love the look of this movie. So visually rich and stylized! Directed by Ridley Scott with designs by a young Miles Teves. Tim Curry as Darkness! Robert Picardo as Meg Mucklebones! Oh, and I guess a pre-Top Gun Tom Cruise.

I spent most of my time designing & painting the rolling trunks and the board with numbers on it. They were part of the programming a for the Education dept ‘1993 programs comparing dinosaurs with contemporary animals. It was very much ‘dinosaurs were animals, not monsters.

@DrMichaelJRyan - is this the Michael Ryan I’d have known at the Tyrrell around 1990ish ? I was working in the education department as an illustrator. I think that was when William Stout was visiting.

@RoyalTyrrell @DrMichaelJRyan I think it was being cast when I was working there. Later that fall when i was working at a Canterbury Books down town the manager handed me advance copy of some book , ‘Jurassic Something….’

Did you know that the Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton in Jurassic Park was an exact replica of our Museum’s ‘Huxley’ T. rex? The star attraction of our Dinosaur Hall gallery is immortalized in Jurassic Park when the living T. rex throws a Velociraptor at the skeleton, destroying it.

Fans of the original Jurassic Park film may recall a scene in which the main characters climbed down a pair of dinosaur skeletons in the park’s visitor centre. The T. rex and sauropod were positioned in a dynamic battle pose.
