There's a right way and a wrong way. Odds are, she was power tripping authoritatian and the kid is autistic and trying his best. Dad shouldn't be blasting in screaming, for sure, but there's a chance she needed a wakeup call about what being overwhelmed feels like. Hopefully both of them make needed adjustments.

Ever since I watched Pokemon Spell of the Unknown as a kid, this scene always stuck with me. And the music is a big part of it. It does an excellent job of getting across Molly's fear and loneliness, as well as how her dream world is becoming a nightmare.
