Lamine Yamal talks about the expectations of representing Spain at the World Cup while being a No.10 for Barcelona. “I understand that people are going to target the player who excites the most. Pedri and Rodri are great but the pressure I have, I’m Barça’s 10, the winger. But I’m happy with this, the pressure is when you can’t do what they ask you but I can.” About his Uruguay performance: “If I see that there is a half-chance, I don’t challenge for it to prevent getting hurt, but I train hard. If you go with fear, it’s worse because you can hurt yourself but against Uruguay I didn’t sprint to the fullest because we were already qualified.” His availability for the next game: I’m very well, very happy. I have trained with a lot of desire and am excited to get to this moment. I’m at 90-80% and getting better, it doesn’t go down. I’m ready for 90 minutes.”

Which World Cup players would you like Barça to go for after the tournament? After watching Mexico vs Ecuador, Gilberto Mora really caught my eye. Obviously still very young, but he looks like the type of player Barça should at least be monitoring: technical, confident, good in tight spaces, and not afraid to ask for the ball. It also made me think about profiles we’ve let go too early. Still feels like a shame that Chadi Riad left, especially considering how useful a left-footed CB with his profile could’ve been for the squad. It’s also a shame that they didn’t go for Dumfries, who is a very Barça-type signing and unfortunately ends up in Madrid’s hands. After the World Cup, which players would you like Barça to target? Not necessarily the biggest names, but players who feel like a real Barça profile: Technical, press-resistant, high IQ, and financially realistic, taking into account the club’s current situation and the need to invest wisely in key positions like defense and the wing-back role. I think the team should especially focus on strengthening the defensive line, looking for solid center-backs but also ones who are good on the ball, fundamental in Barça’s style. In addition, a wing-back with stamina, attacking ability, and tactical discipline would be key to balancing the team and providing more width. I also think bringing in a more veteran defender would be very beneficial, someone who can lead the backline, organize the defense, and guide the younger players in key moments. I also believe it’s important to bring in a veteran player who can provide leadership and experience, especially in midfield or even at a general locker room level. Since Lewandowski’s departure, the team has lost a clear reference point and captain on the pitch, someone who sets the tempo and inspires in difficult moments. A profile like that would not only help young talents grow, but also bring stability in important matches. It doesn’t have to be a superstar, just someone with character, tactical intelligence, and m in high-level competitions. Who has caught your attention so far?

World Cup > UCL World Cup legacy holds more value than the Champions League Think of players like R9, Maradona, James Rodríguez, and even Mbappé. These guys built an empire solely on the World Cup, whereas many players who won the Champions League faded into obscurity.

The only Barcelona player killing it at the World Cup is 19 year old pau Cubarsi. The rest are busy granting interviews and stakes on what they’d do if they win the World Cup. More interviews than performances .

Kylian Mbappé now has as many goals in the World Cup knockout stages alone as Ronaldo has World Cup goals in total 10 goals in 9 knockout games. he's only 27.

Mbappe has been a bigger villain to Messi than Ronaldo ever was. No Messi fan ever really saw Ronaldo as a genuine threat beyond the usual rivalry. But Mbappe has been a real threat to Messi, especially in France vs. Argentina clashes. The 2018 World Cup Round of 16 and the 2022 World Cup final made their rivalry incredibly intense. I even saw Messi fans nearly passing out after Mbappe scored his second goal in the 2022 final.

Norway need to change their gameplay against Brazil From what we saw yesterday, Stale is pushing the defensive chill gameplay on his team after 1 goal, which isn't a bad tactic in general but come on, Norway's defense isn't doing shit, they let CIV create too many dangerous chances, if not for the keeper, it might've been another upset. On the other hand, japan's defense is objectively better than Norway's, yet they couldn't keep up with Brazils agression despite Brazil being at their all-time worst. If Norway go into the game with the same defensive mindset and wait for moments instead of actively trying to control the match, Brazil will send them home.

Nagelsmann says he won't resign and calls the disallowed goal "a joke." After a Round of 32 exit to 34th-ranked Paraguay. Now that we've all had a few days to cool off: Julian Nagelsmann is staying put. He's admitted Germany are no longer a first-class team, called the VAR disallowed Tah goal "a joke," but insists he’s not someone who runs away and will continue if the DFB want him. FIFA/Collina have doubled down that the disallowed goal was correct - a foul on the keeper with no attempt to play the ball. Two separate arguments worth untangling: 1. The decision: re-watching it with a clear head, was Tah's goal a genuine foul on Gill or a soft VAR overreach that decided a World Cup knockout tie? 2. The bigger picture: Germany has been consistently underperforming or performing below expectations since 2018 WC, what exactly is the reason for this? is this structural decline in german football?

How did Mexico finally break a 40-year World Cup curse? 🇲🇽🔥 Mexico beat Ecuador 2–0 to reach the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 and finally end a 40-year World Cup drought. After decades of near misses, this feels like a huge moment for El Tri. Is this the start of a deep World Cup run, or is the toughest test still ahead?

This France is one of the best teams in world cups It's much better than the 2022 France team and even that team was very good! I think it's up there with some of the best teams ever, and I think it will take a miracle for them to lose this world cup.

Where does World Cup Mbappé rank among the top “big stage” athletes you’ve watched? I’ve watched a number of elite athletes across different sports. • 2012 Messi • Prime Cristiano Ronaldo • Superbowl Tom Brady • Jordan in the Finals, etc But World Cup Mbappé feels different. It’s not just the pace. There’s a feeling every time he gets the ball, something irreversible might happen. You can defend well for 88 minutes and suddenly the game becomes chaotic for the opponent. The 2022 final especially made me realise this. Few athletes I’ve watched create that level of inevitability under pressure. The pairing with Olise now makes it more mind blowing.
