Samsung just averted a strike by granting chip workers an average bonus of about $340,000. The union made a credible strike threat that would have threatened the global chip supply, and Samsung, predicted to be the 2nd most profitable company on Earth this year, caved to worker demands. Samsung has about 78,000 people in its semiconductor division, and while bonuses will vary the average comes out to a stunning $340,000 per worker.

Tony Blair thinks the answer to this country’s problems is AI, welfare cuts and endless spending on war. Who benefits? Arms companies and tech billionaires. Once again, Blair is wrong. The answer is a redistribution of wealth and power and the relentless search for peace.

Utterly misses the point. The main strategy for stopping fascism has to be raising living standards for the majority—what @IsabellaMWeber calls anti-fascist economics. The reason to replace Labour with Greens isn’t ideological, it’s that they’re more willing to do what it takes.
Novara Media@novaramedia

“I don’t know if the left totally realise how close we are to having a complete overtake of fascism in this country.” Critical theorist and Green party member Louisa Toxværd Munch says the left needs to offer a unified alternative to Reform in Makerfield – and if that alternative is Andy Burnham, she's happy to back him.

I’ve written for @guardian on how the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and a forecast strong El Niño risk a major global food crisis - and why a new approach is needed to how Britain runs its own, exposed, food system (link below)

Curse of Private Equity Morrisons to close 100 stores. Blames govt, silent on PE looting. PE loaded company with £6.6bn debt, cut staff, sold-off petrol stations, indulged in sale and leaseback of assets, extracted returns. PE devouring high street. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Owen is objectively/ pragmatically correct here, but it's also a near impossible standard for a normal human being who is engaging in political discourse. It's also entirely one-sided. No one is ever dragged for sharing conspiracy theories about, say, Muslims & grooming gangs.
Owen Jones@owenjonesjourno

The Greens' membership has exploded in size in a very short space of time. But they desperately need to prioritise sorting out their vetting. The other thing is that we need to deal with conspiracist thinking on the left. It's not socialism and leads to very dark places.
