@alex_ford12399 53,000 years of follow up makes a great headline but reality is median follow up of 3 years per patient. I personally think PPIs are safe but not sure this study is going to help convince anyone to change their opinion over their long term use.

Finally... A randomized trial showing proton pump inhibitors are safe when used for >53,000 years of follow-up. Hopefully this will receive as much attention as observational studies showing numerous potentially "spurious" deleterious consequences gastrojournal.org/article/S0016-…
