North Scottish Area BB

Well done to Martin Dunbar who is celebrating 30 years as Captain of @4thFraserburgh ! Martin undertakes a variety of roles in Buchan and the North Scottish and has recently joined the UK Programme group.

Today the KING’S BADGE becomes the highest award in the Boys' Brigade, replacing the Queen's Badge after 72 years. With a number of King's Badge candidates throughout the NSA we will be watching with interest to find which Company will first present a King's Badge in NSA!

We send our sincere thanks to Andrew Wells for his service as the NSA Rep on the Scotland Committee over these past 3 years. As his term on the Scotland Committee comes to an end we wish him every success going forward in both his Boys' Brigade journey and in his career.

EXECUTIVE Today members of the North Scottish Executive met via Zoom. They were delighted to be joined by newest Honorary VP, Gordon Pirie MBE (Banffshire Batt). The Executive discussed a number of agenda items pertinent to the North in preparation for Conference in October.

The #140Baton caught up with the @45thGBB on their camp at Boat of Garden! Great that the Baton has met up with further afield companies including reps from BB Bahamas! @TheBBGlasgow

“It always felt right to continue with BBs as I enjoyed it so much and wanted to give back to my community and the leaders/officers who helped me!" On the final day of #VolunteersWeekScot we meet Chris Cairns who is a leader with the brand new 1st Isle of Skye Company!

“ I would encourage people to start volunteering if they are thinking about it, even if it's only for an hour a week, it can make such a difference". On day 6 of #VolunteersWeekScot we meet Stuart Allan who is a leader with the 2nd Forres Boys Brigade.

“For anyone who wants to volunteer with BB I would say go for it! It is the most rewarding thing you will ever do". On day 5 of #VolunteersWeekScot we visit Michael at 2nd Turriff who has been a volunteer for just over 20 years and 14 of those as a Captain!

VOLUNTEERS' WEEK "I had enjoyed being a Life Boy and BB Boy and I worked for the Queen's Badge. I thought that it best to then give help and guidance to other youngsters in the Company". Day four of #VolunteersWeekScot takes us to Malcolm of 1st Stornoway!

VOLUTEERS' WEEK "Within the BB you are not friends for long; you soon become family". On day three of #VolunteersWeekScot we meet one of Buchan Battalio’s newest Volunteers Kelly from the @4thFraserburgh : "I’m still relatively quite new – I only started in January".

#VolunteerWeekScots "If you are thinking of volunteering please consider the BB as an option - you will be truly inspired!" On day two of #VolunteersWeekScot we meet Olwen who has volunteered with 1st Kirkwall for 31 years!

This #VolunteersWeekScot we celebrate BB Volunteers in the North including Dave from 44th Aberdeen. Dave has been a volunteer leader in the BB for 33 years changing countless young lives for the better! @BBAberdeen

QUEEN’S BADGES As mentioned, this weekend’s completion course in Kincraig SHOULD be the last ever for the Queen’s Badge in NSA. The QB has been issued for 71 years, 1/2 the entire existence of BB! Did you get a Queen’s Badge? If so, let us know in the comments! Pics welcome!

#ThrowbackThursday #DidYouKnow that over our 110 year history the North Scottish has had 10 Presidents? The first, George Bennett Mitchell, was known to Sir William A Smith, Founder of the BB.! Among many other roles, the President chairs the North Scottish Executive.

The President, Executive & all in the BB North Scottish Area send our best wishes and prayers to HM The King as he begins treatment following his cancer diagnosis. We pray for his successful treatment and a swift recovery following this distressing and shocking diagnosis. GSTK

Yesterday afternoon the Buckie Lifeboat transported the Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire and the #140Baton to Lossiemouth. The Baton was accompanied by a flotilla of vessels! What a special way to get the Moray Battalion!

This morning the President & Vice-President were delighted to attend the 4th Peterhead’s 65th Anniversary Service and re-dedication of colours. The Company did themselves proud!
