@hiradary It was a dud. The point was to validate quickly and pivot with conviction.

There are so many people doing their Christmas #citywalk on Shanghai's Yuyuan Road that the police found it necessary to install barricades in certain areas
Few are carrying shopping bags though

When taboos become the norm...
Came across this graph from World In Data of the rise of "online dating" as the way people meet their spouse. My favorite new technologies transform norms...and this is a great example, and is one question I always ask myself as a product leader and investor. Online dating is perhaps one of the most demonstrative examples. When looking for new opportunities, always ask yourself, “what other taboos will soon become the norm?” Any others you've noticed?

We’re pretty excited about this one @jagat_app . Imagine @facebook groups but spatial, and you can share your updates and activities to your own global community. It’s only start, but more soon… ❤️

@nikitabier Would tend to agree. Especially for global apps. Users don’t tend to share via sms / imessage. They share invite links or usernames via pretty diverse channels.
Secondly most use SSO these days for ease of onboarding, most of the time that is unlinked to phone numbers/contacts.

Bro your app doesn’t need access to Contacts. People can share usernames. You just open iMessage, DM your username to every single friend and hope they have the app. Then if they do, they just open the app, type in your 14-character-username and add you.
If each user does this to every friend and each friend signs up at the same time and their friendlist grows at the same rate as everyone else’s, then you can all hit the Aha Moment simultaneously—just like you would with Contacts Access.
And by the year 2035, your app’s social graph will be competitive with Instagrams.
See, it’s super easy. Your app doesn’t need Contacts Access.
