Good story alert! My team at the @pulitzercenter worked with @karolilagan to track the surge fees of GrabCar in Manila and we found that it always included surge fees no matter which hour you booked the rides. The same methodology can be used for other ride-hailing markets.

New PCIJ investigation!! Data collected by PCIJ showed that rides of the GrabCar service always included surge fees, the additional cost computed by an algorithm to get more cars on the road.
