@nanagazer As an addendum: I think adult animation of the more serious/serialized nature will continue its upswing.
Arcane, Invincible and Vox Machina/Mighty Nein have proven the existence of a largely-untapped market and crowd waiting to be served.

Very good article that's revealing and confirming of where animation is going. The days of packed slates of TV animation, especially for kids, are over. Features will stay around but the future is animatics, meme videos, and stronger fandom relationships with older audiences.

‘MAN OF TOMORROW’ is expected to begin filming April 20.

Illumination’s whole ethos seems to be “I like to play and draw” and ngl, I can’t hate them for that. Sure their movies are mid, but at least they stay in their lane and don’t treat their workers like shit.

Illumination is such an annoying entity because they have a great work environment and don’t like AI, but they’ve also never made anything higher than a 6/10, and with their current business model, I don’t think they ever will

@podrace_EXPLODE It’s a shame that their mammoth mountain of resources, tech and connections aren’t being utilized for more artistically varied or innovative works, but they’ve more than earned the right to be where they are.

They understand the art and power of the blockbuster movie perhaps better than most, but their priorities almost never rise above what they know how to do best.
