Break from preparing for some negotiation work in Saskatchewan next week for a long, slow run along the mighty Ottawa River. Beautiful day, like summer, great playlist too - mix of the 70’s. Time to return to higher summer mileage.

First cottage run of the year. It’s more difficult to run in May in West Quebec. We have a family of bears on our land - 2 cubs & a mom nearby. With this in mind I run with a whistle & have music playing loudly on my phone. Talking Heads, Bowie, Stones… no bears in sight.

Run where I work. Day 3 of collective bargaining so time for a short run around Gillies Lake in Timmins - no bears but lots of friendly dogs.

Tradition returns. Couldn’t run on my recent work trip to Vancouver & Victoria, but fit in a quick 5km here in Timmins where I am for a week of collective bargaining. Was advised to not do any trail running - the bears are near by.

A week of negotiations. This one was canceled when they got 70cms of snow back in February. Beautiful day for a drive. Fair compensation, recruitment are issues across the municipal sectors. And…run where I work later this afternoon.

Exception made to my tradition of going for a run where I am working. Preparing now for a full day in Vancouver tomorrow and Victoria the next day. Long run at home Saturday morning. Next time…. West Coast.

On this National Day of Mourning let’s remember the sacrifices made by our friends and colleagues. I remember Ken and Charlie on this day, close friends lost to occupational disease. May their memories be a blessing.

At first I thought this was a happy dog enjoying the light spring rain, but when I drove past I noticed that both humans in the front were smoking…

@nut_history Hats off to the person operating the camera. Runner is safe, ball didn’t appear to have been fully caught. What was the actual call on the field - tough one but pro umps are pretty good.

Ok spring is here and so the smoker is going strong. My son is taking control today - we are in search of the best rubs.

My tradition, run where I work. This time along the mighty St Lawrence River, near its Gulf, in mountainous Charlevoix. All hills, all ice, all wind, but traditions must endure. Here to talk about union leaders engaging with their members.

Was to be on the road for 3 days of collective bargaining, but the expectation of up to 60cm of snow at my destination brought sensible heads together. Perhaps the easiest decision between the union & the employer. Back to it in April. Running Reggie is a great replacement.

Differences in culture could not be more stark than this recent poll of how people see their neighbours. PEW questioned participants as to whether they saw fellow citizens as “morally good”.

Mixing business with pleasure… quick train to Toronto for client meeting and at night, take in one of the best jazz pianists Bill Charlap and on a second piano, his wife Renee Rosnes. Just a remarkable performance - the magic of two pianos and two great artists.

Imagine, the size and expertise of Canada’s largest pension plans building a relationship with Australia’s largest pension plans. The potential for continued plan successes are great in a changing world. Good time to be in a defined benefit, union pension plan.

Binnington saved their asses in that overtime - let’s go.
