@timkawakami Almost unfathomable to be that good and that mature at his age. So jealous of Sharks fans.

@LombardiHimself That Tannehill example is awful. It's like arguing that the Lance and Joe Williams pick were equal because neither could play.

@timkawakami I think it’s reasonable to question their drafting strategy. So many whiffs recently, drafting a K in round 3, etc. Kyle is such a good coach that they may have multiple SBs if they were a better drafting team.

@LombardiHimself You’re missing the point. All three of those guys could end up being great, but they’re throwing away the opportunity to take other higher end swings by reaching for those guys. Could have a third rounder and Black, now it’s going to be a fourth and Black - bad business over time

The whole idea that a pick can’t be good because he went higher than in irrelevant mock drafts is very tied to how wrong many continue to be dead wrong about how good Brock Purdy is. They worship draft order instead of actually watching football and understanding its meritocratic nature. Once picks report, no one in the building cares where specific players were drafted. Only fans and some analysts, all of whom aren’t actually connected to the league and its workings, care about this. That was actually one of the main draft points of a coach named… Bill Walsh

@LombardiHimself We don’t, but you can still evaluate the process. For example, Moody was always a bad pick - you can find good to great kickers off the street. Tonight, it’s fine to like guys but reaching 3 rounds doesn’t feel like great process.

I know it's a wild concept and that many just want to use the draft as an outlet for their anger, but maybe we can actually wait to see how these 49ers' draftees perform in the NFL before grading them. The truth is that you don't know how things will break for these players

I really don’t like the idea of drafting a Dman. You’re not winning with just a D core team. Keep drafting high end forwards. Trade for high end forwards (which is impossible).

@CofRedCentral They played a ton of youth down the stretch and happened to win some games. Vancouver isn't guaranteed to get a game changing forward. We ended up fourth last and did a bunch of positive things for the future by committing to the rebuild. Stop whining that players tried.

@bconrad24 If they got serious and tanked more, they could have had a top forward 🤷🏻‍♂️

@LaForgesVisor @CofRedCentral This is the appropriate balance. Having a strong culture for the young talent to grow up in is not something to whine about (CofRed + TWC), it’s a positive, but you don’t need to overpay for it.

One thing I’ll say because we will hear it a lot today: Culture, while great, doesn’t matter right now. You get the talent first, then worry about the culture. Who cares if a bunch of average Joes are having fun, they need to win

@SethDavisHoops @ArizonaMBB @umichbball I’m not necessarily arguing but what about your experience drew you to that conclusion? One bad half followed by a complete demolition of the team that beat UM in the Big 10 final? I think UM is great but I’m curious what that in person experience revealed.

I picked @ArizonaMBB to win the tournament but after seeing the Wildcats in person for two games I do think @umichbball has a gear the Cats (or anyone else) can't reach.

@HogfanChris Fouls were 3 to 2 with 11 minutes left in the half and then Arkansas proceeded to lose its mind. That call was absolutely a common foul but I'm sure that was a message from the refs. I don't agree with the call, but Arkansas was playing like a bunch of idiots.

@DJ_Dell @Trevor_Neufeld It’s way more common In basketball, but he was a puck/ball stopper. The puck just seemed to stick on his stick and all flow died. Seems like a good guy but I always kinda hated watching him play.

@Trevor_Neufeld I was thinking the same thing the other day, we look like a different team now that kadri is gone which is weird cause he was one of our best players

#Flames thoughts after 20: -A few nerves. A tripping penalty and a blown tire, but Tyson Gross looks very solid. -The Flames are such a different team without Nazem Kadri. The offence is so much more egalitarian.

@KevinOConnor @JayYMavs AJ shot 25 FGs, 12 FTs and had 1 AST (5 TOs). He’s not a particularly fun watch either. Great prospect, great iso scorer, not a particularly great winning player yet. Not a coincidence they weren’t any better than last year.

Arizona up 61-48 and Tommy Lloyd calls timeout with 7:18 left. Wildcats are 13-26 from the free-throw line. This should be a 20-point game.

@timkawakami Feels like he likes to showcase how tough he is, which I don't view as a positive. Of course you don't want to give players everything they want, but feels like they would be better served just to get business done more often than they do.

I imagine there are several "outs" in the deal for the 49ers after this season.
Janne Oivio (@janneoivio.bsky.social)@JanneOivio

@timkawakami Evans was mooted as a possibility all offseason, I'm still surprised. Did not expect 49ers to go for an old guy with recent injuries. Evans is 100% a legend and future HOF, but this seems like an awfully big risk. Assuming of course it's a very not cheap deal.
