@bcurlock

Saved by Grace. Love my wife. Dad of 4 beautiful girls. Write stuff on Oiler prospects, the NHL draft and hockey tactics. Don’t yell. It’s free.

Personal update: today my time at @OilersNation comes to an end. Was my choice and it was very tough. I owe a lot to @zjlaing and @jsbmbaggedmilk who gave me a chance and guided me along the way. The people at ON are passionate about their craft and I’ll miss that. 1/2

Nobody passes out of the offensive slot better than the entire roster of the Edmonton Oilers.

@bcurlock Get over it!!! He’s gone, plus podkolzin is a total package, he hits, he fights, he competes…. Holloway can skate and is injured far too often

@bcurlock So you’re a smart hockey guy. Why do the Oilers make trades for a Jarry or sign mangiapane type players and let their own players ie perry walk. Is this bad pro scouting or why ?

When the Edmonton Oilers decide to play cycle hockey, they are incredibly hard to beat. It’s a great offensive scheme and it’s also great for their defensive play. I will go to my grave saying this era of Oiler teams is better on the cycle than they are on the rush.

@bcurlock Unless it’s a high cycle. Then they are extremely dangerous to their own goalie

@bcurlock Strongly agree with this take McDavid ludicrous mode < McDavid cycle to seam pass or shot with net front presence

@007KDot I grew up with that team. They were the best cycle team in the world.

Stop going backwards. Stop going across the ice. More short pass puck support.

@yaboyalex97 He doesn’t have to leave. I just think there are teams that could do better with him at 4C in the NHL.

If I’m James Hamblin, I would try and see what options I had to move on after the season. Watching all of these 4Cs in the NHL, I’d be stunned if he cannot find a role. He brings a lot to the table in that role.

FWIW, some of us have been pointing out for a couple of weeks that the 5v5 game of the Oilers has been sound. They will need more of this now, but I don’t think the task is above their ability. Play mature. Play patient. It’ll be fine as long as the goaltending holds up.
