Saved by Grace. Love my wife. Dad of 4 beautiful girls. Write stuff on Oiler prospects, the NHL draft and hockey tactics. Don’t yell. It’s free.

Personal update: today my time at @OilersNation comes to an end. Was my choice and it was very tough. I owe a lot to @zjlaing and @jsbmbaggedmilk who gave me a chance and guided me along the way. The people at ON are passionate about their craft and I’ll miss that.

@BlueBullet1981 @KevinMcCurdy @Troggle3003 Agreed. Also Hutson is a tweener. Everything will need to go right for him in the off-season.
Finally Carolina is the best example of just get high skilled players regardless of size.
English

@KevinMcCurdy @Troggle3003 I have never been able to find any significance with height and production with forwards. I just don't see openings for all three. Some fans are probably higher on Hutson than I am.

@bcurlock By contributor do you mean part of a Jared McCann package?

My post on Saturday will be about Ike Howard and Quinn Hutson. I get into why the deal, Howard-O’Reilly, is a good bet for the Oilers.
This despite my love for right shot centers from the OHL.
I also think Quinn Hutson has a chance to be an Oiler contributor next season.

On the bright side, no one should be able to criticize the Oilers for drafting Sam O’Reilly too early.

@JayManCroft @RitchiewithaT All these top end prospects will have played lots of junior hockey (1-2 seasons before they go this route).
Secondly, I value young players playing against full grown men and excelling. That’s happening in college, not junior.
Tommy Lafreniere could be an interesting case.
English

@bcurlock @RitchiewithaT IMO the argument would be better development of puck skills in CHL. More time on the ice, game situations etc.
CHL will be the starting point for more players, and those who feel they need more physical development than puck development will take this route.
English

NIL aside this is the reason top end players should go the collegiate route.

Porter Martone's year at Michigan State came with intention in the weight room. He gained 12 pounds, lost 3 percent body fat and became NHL ready. I caught up with Will Morlock about how it happened and why it's an ideal case study for other CHLers. shapshotshockey.com/p/how-michigan…
English

@RitchiewithaT 68 games is the issue plus lots of time on the iron lung. Definitely not fatal by any means. Just saying it has advantages.
English

@bcurlock I don’t get why this is an argument against the CHL. Do they not have weight rooms?
English

@bcurlock Well your suggesting him to be head coach no? And I'm saying a head coach with only college experience is unheard of in this league, and there may be a good reason for that.
English

@LastDynasty69 Why does the matter? Also what does that have to do with me saying I would talk to him?
English

@bcurlock Bruce, how many NCAA coaches became NHL head coaches without any AHL experience? The answer looks to be ZERO.
English

@stevezieskidoo @Steele131 @SportsThor Latter part I have no clue. Former, because I’ve watched him for 7 years. He’ll be a star NHL coach if he wants to be. Tactically sound, very strong in game management. Creative on player usage and systems associated with. Same elements I saw in Woodcroft in AHL.
English

@bcurlock @Steele131 @SportsThor What maketh you so confident?
Also, why would we succeed in luring him when so many others have failed? Can it be done?
