this is fantastic nuts and bolts stuff, if implemented would really make it easier for businesses to survive LA as commercial rents, operating costs, and wages remain high and difficult

Highlights include: - Comprehensive permitting & inspection reform - Rapid response for maintenance, infrastructure, sanitation and homeless outreach in commercial corridors - Tenant improvement grants & a "vacant to vibrant" program to fill vacant storefronts (modeled after SF) - Stoping predatory ADA lawsuits - Working with the state to reform worker's comp insurance

This line is such a shot in the arm for LA. Underground rail is so much faster than above ground rail. LA can really build this thing out and connect the whole city. Fix the housing situation and LA will be the world's best city.

All of this, by the way, came after *Utah voters* directly amended their constitution to take the task of drawing districts away from the legislature. The Utah Supreme Court was applying that constitutional requirement.

Here's what the Utah GOP did: 1. They sued federally to block the new map. 2. They packed the UT Supreme Court, creating two brand new justices 3. They created a brand new “constitutional court” panel that will hear challenges to state law, avoiding the Supreme Court altogether

Particularly in a moment of federal retrenchment—with deep cuts to redistributive programs like Medicaid & education funding—the amount of taxable wealth within municipal boundaries (local fiscal capacity) is likely to become an even more important determinant of life outcomes.
