The FBI has been back in Nancy Guthrie's neighborhood -- asking about neighbors who moved out before Nancy vanished and also interested in a home under construction and the names of all the crew members who have worked on the house. Latest details here: youtube.com/watch?v=62Ytrf…

The night before the Boston marathon, after 7 months of injury, I was praying for a miracle to get me through that race. Then we got the call. 11 days later we got to be there to welcome our sweet Sofia Rochelle into the world and into our family. She is definitely a miracle 🥰

Week 3 of Winter Track Group! Form..form and more form work. You can never get enough. Lost a few to holiday travel but 12 strong souls faced the cold and wind for a peppy 250 (150) fartlek workout. We are REALLY getting to love this group and will hate to see it end next week!

@Chandle74418127 @scottcarlinpt @shitehawke2 Are you paying attention? Drills drills drills Bands bands bands Fundamentals.. make them a priority For your recreational runners… heel strike is never taught or encouraged. Fundamentals can self correct. Stay injury free and away from doctors and PT is my goal!

@be_bold_run @scottcarlinpt @shitehawke2 “Proper form”? “Prevent injury”? Are you paying attention here? There is no evidence that switching to forefoot/midfoot does either. Stop messing with people’s foot strikes based on fairy tales.

Runners— There is currently no evidence to support transitioning from heel striking to non-heel striking to reduce injury risk or improve running economy. Changing heel striking to non-heel striking may actually reduce running economy.

@scottcarlinpt @shitehawke2 Her heel strike happens close to beneath her flexed knee. The landing position is relative to her center of mass so she runs without overstriding much and lands very LIGHT compared to a heavy jogger. A PT should not promote this. As a coach, we teach proper form to prevent injury

@scottcarlinpt Correction… not all sales people in shoe stores are qualified to make a suggestion on the “right” shoe.

@scottcarlinpt 1. This is one study with limitations in that the recipient knew what they were getting. 2. Not enough studies comparing each type of running shoe with another. I do agree shoe needs to feel comfortable and not what a shoe store recommends.

@scottcarlinpt There is no one race pacing strategy. As a running coach I coach athletes to race depending on the particular race, their goals, fitness, course, weather… etc.

@scottcarlinpt You can go too easy on #5 and gait and form is affected. If form is suffering while too easy you are better off with a day off. My phylosophy is to go only as slow as you need to. I run my easy a little peppier. Works for me.

If Twitter dies, please remember: 1. Running isn’t bad for your knees 2. The best exercise = the one that gets done 3. Have fun 4. 45 min/day moderate intensity activity 5. Your easy runs can probably be easier 6. Lift something heavy 7. Emphasis on 3 & 4

“The best, most function core work is high speed running.” ~Cal Dietz Arms and legs propelling the body forward at 20+ mph while core remains stable… nothing else comes close. Ever seen a sprinter with a soft core?

Welp that was embarrassing. Haven’t been this fit in a long time. Training was good- like really really good. Proud of how I prepared and that I wasn’t afraid to stick my nose in it, disappointed with how it played out. Such is life. Gonna go have some beers now. 📸: @lukewebstr
