Abacha’s regime brought military dictatorship, Ogoni executions, Kudirat’s assassination, billions looted, and a gagged press with many living in fear of being locked in dungeons. Some families never recovered from the trauma and those old wounds have not healed fully.
NADECO activists weren’t perfect including a few relatives of mine, but equating them as “worse” than that era romanticizes real atrocities many Nigerians suffered.
Let’s critique today’s failures on rule of law and accountability across all sides, but let’s not rewrite the past to score points. I would equally frown tomorrow if someone says endsars protesters, are worse than murderous/criminal police officers.
A New Nigeria needs facts, not selective memory. Let’s build Nigeria forward with truth. 🇳🇬

Leadership Without Compassion is Not Leadership
During his visit to Benue State in June 2025, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stopped at the Government House but did not go to the actual scene where innocent Nigerians lost their lives. Similarly, yesterday in Jos, his engagement ended at the airport instead of at the affected communities.
What happened in Plateau yesterday highlights a complete absence of leadership. True leadership requires presence, empathy, compassion, and a willingness to meet people where their pain truly lies. For citizens who have just lost loved ones, homes, and their sense of safety, being addressed from an airport tarmac is profoundly inadequate.
This approach exacerbates the sense of abandonment already felt by innocent Nigerians who have endured repeated cycles of violence without meaningful protection or justice. Plateau deserves more than distant words; it requires urgent action and a clear commitment to ending the insecurity that continues to claim innocent lives.
In such moments, leadership must not only be visible but also tangible—standing with victims, listening to survivors, and acknowledging the depth of their grief.
If we truly desire a better Nigeria, we must demand leadership that is present, responsive, and responsible at all times.

This is not just injustice; this is pure, unadulterated daylight robbery of the highest order. How can a woman own 75 percent of a property that was sold for a staggering 725 million naira, and some greedy community leaders have the absolute audacity to offer her a miserable 11 million? If you do the math, her rightful share is over 500 million naira! They are literally trying to swallow her generational wealth just because they feel they have the local power and influence to intimidate her. This is exactly what happens in so many of our communities today. Some traditional leaders and extended family members use their titles and positions to bully women, especially widows or aging mothers, out of their rightful inheritance because they assume these women are weak and nobody will fight for them.
My sister, please wipe your tears because crying will not move these people; their consciences are already dead to the truth. You need to go entirely on the offensive right now. Do not accept that 11 million, and whatever you do, do not let your mother sign any document. You need to get a very ruthless lawyer immediately and petition the EFCC and the police for criminal conspiracy and fraud. More importantly, your lawyer needs to write directly to that big company that bought the land and serve them a legal notice. The moment that corporate company realizes the land they just paid for is about to be tied down in a massive, public legal battle, they will freeze that transaction, and those arrogant community leaders will suddenly be the ones looking for you to negotiate properly. You have to fight them fire for fire, because nobody deserves to be oppressed and robbed of their rightful property just because some men in power think they can get away with it!
