Oda retconned Roger to make him be more like Older Ace with a goofy personality like Luffy Roger before Oden flashbacks was the Roger that made the One Piece race interesting. God Valley Roger & Garp are just Ace-Luffy(Roger) and Luffy (Garp)

@Soul_StormOP I mean no point in creating a fight with a lot of drawn out tension when we know the result is rocks’ defeat. Oda has to write a story and chapter full of named attacks doesn’t progress it. If this fight happened in present timeline then I’d expect a few fighting chapters

#ONEPIECR1165 . I’m gonna be honest I didn’t like this chapter at all if this is how the fight ends, which does seem to be the case . I’m glad we got more than just clashes but the choreography was mid at best with the conclusion just being “your haki needs mass”. Like… huh? What does that even mean? Just add a shit ton of haki? Really? . I also really wish Oda built up Roger and Garp’s relationship to Rocks better cuz their throughline had no emotional weight behind it . For the climax of God Valley this was extremely underwhelming
