Sometime last year I bought this book for $1.90 online, specifically because--I gotta be transparent here--I thought it was freaking hilarious. However, after what I thought was going to be a pure-lulz read, I actually found myself with a lot of thoughts. "Y2k For Women" :(1/n)

I rarely tell people that I’m Autistic because it often changes the way they interact with me, but the one kind of nice exception to that is that I’ve never really felt like it was a disadvantage in software engineering. If anything, it seems super common in this field.

the "sliding window" pattern everyone knows from LeetCode (it's the optimized solution to stuff like "find the longest substring w/out repeating characters") is also an optimized way to keep track of user connection data in k-millisecond windows, at high volumes, across towers.

I know those super academic sounding problems (like "reversing a linked list", etc) might sound out of touch, but they're genuinely at the core of performant modern software in IoT/Telecom because the data is so big, and coming in so quickly, that robust algorithms make or break

It’s easy to focus on the challenges of being a woman in software, but I’ve been trying recently to actively remind myself of all the times my male colleagues had my back on something, or were a good ally in another one. One that I recalled this weekend: (1/n)

This paragraph from @jpbrammer’s new book “Hola Papi” hit me like a ton of bricks. I am in love with this essay collection from a fellow queer neurotic Mexican & I think I encountered right when I needed it

Update: thank you so much for the DM’s! I’ve really enjoyed hearing from y’all and having initial conversations. As much as I would love to take on everyone, I’m afraid I’m at capacity for the time being. If you reached out & didn’t hear back, I’ll be circling back in October.

Hey friends! I’m an experienced backend eng & I wanna get some exposure to coaching/teaching my professional skillset this summer. If you’re an early career eng and you could benefit from a few hours a month of pairing, DM me. RT’s appreciated for reach. Notes: (next tweet)

Quick side note for any early career engineers following me: for commit messages at work, use good style. Capitalize the first letter and use an active verb. Your message should be able to complete the sentence “when added, this change will ___”. e.g. “Add support for shuffling”

One of the benefits of having this is my zoom background is that it frequently comes up in the conversation and I genuinely love hearing people’s reactions/opinions of it (board says: “truthfulness is the foundation of all human virtues”
