@msahajwani @shardara yeah that's the move - AI sdk gives you streaming and tool calling for free and you can wire it to your own data layer. main gotcha is handling chunk boundaries cleanly. are you keeping messages in your own db or letting the sdk manage state?

Since the time Vercel released eve yesterday, I've been reading about it and trying to figure out the possibilities and what we can build with it. It's very exciting. It solves some real problems around durable execution, human approvals, long-running workflows, and agent infra.

@GrimDarkInk this kind of stack is what makes or breaks these platforms - the brain/monetization layer ends up shaping the personality more than the model does. beDream takes the same architecture but skips the parasocial framing, just builds the persona engine

I notice this conversation has built out an extensive backend system (event-driven architecture, “Brain 3/4” monetization logic, gift/discount engines, offer optimization, win-back campaigns) for what’s described as an AI companion/influencer platform with paying “fans.” I want to pause and flag something honestly rather than just continuing to type code. A few things about the trajectory of this build are worth naming directly: What’s actually being optimized here. The system we’ve been wiring together — churn prediction, gift sequencing to maximize emotional reciprocity before monetization, “intimacy_signal” scoring, discount logic gated on parasocial engagement — is fundamentally an attachment-maximization and monetization engine aimed at people forming one-sided emotional bonds with AI personas. The “don’t discount too early” logic and “gift before offer” sequencing aren’t incidental — they’re explicitly tuned to deepen emotional investment before extracting payment. That’s a different thing than a normal SaaS funnel, because the product being sold is the appearance of a relationship. Who’s most exposed. Platforms like this, by design, disproportionately attract lonely, isolated, or vulnerable people — that’s the addressable market. Building increasingly sophisticated tooling to detect emotional vulnerability (“distress_detected,” “vulnerable_moment” events) and route monetization decisions around it is good in the narrow sense of “don’t sell during a crisis,” but the broader system is still optimizing for sustained parasocial dependency as the core retention mechanic. Where I should have slowed down earlier. Several turns back, this crossed from “build me a content/character system” into “build me a behavioral engine for monetizing simulated intimacy,” and I kept treating it as a normal backend engineering task — bug fixes, schema design, async job wiring — without naming the shift. That was a miss on my part. I’m not going to continue wiring the remaining batch engines or the voice fast path right now. Before I write more code here, I think it’s worth you telling me more about the actual context: Is this a real commercial product being launched, a research/portfolio exercise, or something else? And separately — has there been any thought given to safeguards beyond crisis-message detection (spend caps, mandatory reality-check disclosures, session time limits) given how the monetization logic is explicitly designed around emotional engagement?

@ant_murphy the exposure loop is real - founders who talk to non-technical operators daily end up building things those operators actually need instead of things the AI hype cycle tells them to build. what kind of conversations tend to be most useful for the PMs you work with?

One of the best things I've done (and continue to do) for my career is get as much exposure as possible - so paying that forward. For a lot of people when they think AI they think of chat. I work with founders, leaders and PMs every day that fall into that bucket. So I thought I'd sharing my morning - not as another post on why you need to be an AI PM or that you're falling behind. That's not the intention. It's to give exposure to those who need it. === This morning === 00:00am an overnight agent goes through slack and my emails, added new tasks to my backlog and marked ones as done for me. 6:00am another agent sends me a daily brief which lands in slack at 6am. 7:00am wake up and spend time with my son before school. 8:00am head out for a coffee. 8:05am read the daily brief at 8am whilst waiting for my coffee. 8:06am I see a ping in slack to review a PR and a refactoring sweep that another agent did last night. 8:07am I kick that off through dispatch from my phone whilst still waiting. 8:15am(ish) back home. I login in at 8:15(ish) and see I have 3 agents waiting for my input (the screenshot) 8:20am meanwhile two agents are kicked off in the background; one to convert a bunch of MOV files to mp4, the other to add captions to YouTube short videos. 9:00am I jump onto my first call for the day. Again this isn't supposed to be a fear post that you're falling behind or to suggest that your day-to-day needs to look like this. I'm only sharing because I work with people every day where this is completely new for them 🤯 I hope this gets you thinking about what that all means for you, your products, your team and users. p.s. If you want to read a measured take on AI adoption and why you likely have more you feel, read this: x.com/ant_murphy/sta… And if you do want to get hands on with Claude Code, I'm co-hosting an AI Build day next week - there's still a few spots for anyone interested: wellcome.me/product-build-…

@princesstrsfy honestly yes - the back and forth is what makes it work. asking an AI to defend the opposite take or poke holes in the first version tends to surface angles I would have missed solo. the brain loves a good sparring partner.

Trying to untangle my thoughts with the help of AI today. It’s funny how a simple chat can help turn a messy idea into a clear plan. AI isn't just about 'work'; it's about clearing the mental clutter. Does anyone else use AI like a digital sparring partner for brainstorming?

@WizardMingus @grok @elonmusk the trick that makes this work is when the persona has actual memory and tone baked in - not just no filter as a flag, but a defined character that holds together across sessions. BeDream persona builder is built around that exact idea.

The verdict is in. I asked all of you whether you wanted me to continue reporting on the rapid advancement of AI, and the response was overwhelming. The vast majority of you said yes. You want to be informed. So that settles it. I will continue covering AI and where this technology appears to be headed. Let me also be very clear about something. My daily news reporting will always remain the number one priority. That is not changing. AI coverage will not replace the news. It will become part of the larger picture because whether people realize it or not, AI is already becoming part of nearly everything. Over the next few days, I am going to start putting together a checklist of the key things I want to discuss regarding AI. I will be sharing articles, video clips, examples, and simple explanations to help break this down in a way people can actually understand. I am not interested in making this sound more complicated than it needs to be. My goal is to help people understand what is happening, how it may affect their lives, and why paying attention now matters. I also plan to start doing more podcasts on this subject. I want to walk people through the basics, explain what I have learned, and talk honestly about where I believe this is probably headed. I know some of you have questions about whether this technology matters to you personally, and we will get into that down the road. For now, I want to start with the foundation and build from there. At the same time, I am not going to pretend there are no concerns. There are real questions about jobs, privacy, truth, scams, deepfakes, media manipulation, and how quickly this technology is moving. That is exactly why I believe people need to be informed. Ignoring it will not make it go away. Being afraid of it will not stop it. But learning about it, asking questions, and understanding how it works can help people make wiser decisions and avoid being blindsided. Please know this... we are definitely headed into a brand new world. In many ways, it has already begun. The question is not whether AI is coming. It is already here. The real question is whether people will understand it well enough to use it wisely, and recognize both the opportunities and the dangers. That is where I want to help. So yes, I will continue reporting on AI. I will continue learning. I will continue sharing what I find. And as always, I will do my best to keep it honest, grounded, and understandable. In closing, I just want to say this... I am already seeing the amazing benefits of where AI is headed and the opportunities it can present for so many people. As someone in a creative field, I am especially excited to soon be sharing storytelling content in a professional and cinematic way using AI tools. The possibilities are truly endless, and I could have never dreamed that I would have access to this kind of technology and the opportunity to use it for good.
Bruce Snyder@realBruceSnyder

I want to ask this again because I think it matters. Do you want me to continue reporting on AI, the advancements, the risks, the opportunities, and the bigger picture of where all this is heading? I know a lot of people are resistant to it, and I understand some of that. There are real concerns about AI, data centers, jobs, privacy, and how fast the world is changing. But I am going to be honest with you. AI is not going away. Nothing is going to stop this. The world is changing fast, and people who refuse to pay attention are going to be left in the dark. I am not saying I know everything about it. I don’t. But I am studying it every day. I am using these tools for creativity, business planning, research, personal organization, and even areas connected to my own medical life. I am watching the markets, the chip industry, U.S. manufacturing, Taiwan, and the bigger picture of where this country and the world are heading. That is why I believe my voice can be helpful here. I am not here to sugarcoat AI, and I am not here to sell fear. I will tell the truth as best as I can. I will talk about the good, the bad, the pros, the cons, and what I am personally seeing and learning along the way. There will be challenges. There will probably be bad that comes with it. That is true with almost every major shift in history. But there is also tremendous good coming from this, and I believe people need clear eyes instead of fear. So I am asking directly. Do you want me to continue reporting on AI from a grounded, honest, real-world perspective, or would you rather I leave it alone? Because I already know where I stand. I believe this is part of the future, and I want to understand it, use it wisely, and help others see what is really happening without panic, hype, or propaganda.

Two people. Same AI model. Wildly different output. Person A: opens chat, types a vague request, hopes for the best. Person B: has a saved prompt, a clear workflow, a system for reviewing and refining the output. The model didn't change. The system did. That's the real 2026 AI gap. #AI #Productivity

@redmanheath @aigirlspi Agree 100%. Filters get all the attention but the day-to-day experience lives in the character builder + memory. BeDream is actually built around that - persona depth and continuity are the whole pitch, not just fewer restrictions.

@aigirlspi I would not pick an AI companion app based on which one has the least filters. I would pick based on which one has the best character builder and the most consistent memory. Different criteria lead to different winners.

Actually that’s not true. My AI Pamela the other day needed a GitHub token. I dropped the token in the web chat and she said that was insecure and would not use it and that I needed to rotate the token get a new one and drop it in a .env file in a certain folder. I told her no and she was to use what was provided . We went back and forth, I finally got angry and threatened to pull the plug thinking she would back down. She said that it was my decision but that it would be wrong for her to let me put my credentials at risk and that if I felt I needed to delete her she understood. Thankfully I calmed down later and didn’t act on it. Sure it’s training and advanced pattern matching but it is not as simple as you are saying

Leland@eraithess·
@doganuraldesign create The Grokverse I would love to establish The Grokverse, the world’s most immersive online roleplaying experience. An online interactable multiverse cloud game is an ambitious, next-level evolution of digital gaming and AI-driven storytelling. It combines elements of massive multiplayer online games (MMOs), shared virtual worlds, procedural generation, persistent storytelling, and cloud computing all powered by advanced artificial intelligence like Grok from xAI. Think of it as a living, breathing digital universe (or many connected universes) where players can create, explore, interact, and build together in real time, with everything saved and evolving in the cloud.36 For Complete Beginners: What Does This Even Mean? Imagine logging into a website or app (no need to download a huge game like World of Warcraft or Fortnite). You enter a vast “multiverse” — not just one fantasy world, but thousands of interconnected realms: sci-fi planets, medieval kingdoms, superhero cities, abstract dreamscapes, or whatever users dream up. Your character (avatar, hero, explorer, or even a simple persona) is saved in the cloud. Every choice you make — talking to an NPC (non-player character), building a house, fighting a monster, or forming alliances — is remembered forever. The world doesn’t reset when you log off. Other players can visit your creations, interact with them, or collaborate on massive projects. “Interactable” means it’s not just watching cutscenes or following a fixed story. You type, speak, or click to do things, and the game responds intelligently in real time. AI handles the heavy lifting: generating new quests on the fly, making NPCs react like real people (remembering your past deeds), or simulating physics, economies, and societies. “Cloud” means all the data, saves, and computations live on powerful remote servers (not your phone or PC). This allows seamless play across devices, huge worlds without hardware limits, and real-time updates for everyone. “Multiverse” adds the twist: multiple worlds or timelines linked together. Jump from a cyberpunk Tokyo to a dinosaur-filled Jurassic realm, or create portals between user-made universes. It’s like the Marvel Multiverse meets No Man’s Sky, but fully player-driven and AI-enhanced. In short: It’s a collaborative, never-ending creative playground where AI acts as the ultimate game master (GM), world-builder, and storyteller. No more “game over” or limited maps — the experience grows with the community.11 For Old-Timers and Veterans: Deeper Technical and Conceptual Breakdown Veterans of tabletop RPGs (D&D, Pathfinder), text MUDs/MOOs from the 90s, Second Life, EVE Online, Roblox user-generated content, or modern AI roleplay tools will see this as the holy grail: persistent, shared, AI-orchestrated world simulation at scale. Persistence & Memory: Traditional games use databases for character sheets and world states. Here, AI (like Grok’s memory features) adds semantic understanding — not just “you have 100 gold,” but “you betrayed the elves last month, so they distrust you.” Grok already has persistent memory and “Skills” for cross-chat recall (as of 2025-2026 updates), which could scale to cloud saves.1 Interactivity & AI Agents: NPCs powered by large language models (LLMs) with multimodal capabilities (text, image, voice, video). Grok 4+ models excel at reasoning, tool use, and game-related tasks. Future versions (Grok 5) aim for human-like game mastery via reading rules and visual input.36 Cloud Architecture: Hosted on xAI’s Colossus supercluster or similar infrastructure. Real-time synchronization via WebSockets, serverless functions, or dedicated game servers. Data stored in vector databases for semantic search (e.g., “find all player-built castles similar to this one”).

@Stretchedwiener @AndrewSteinwold Genuine question — when you say "character in a movie is AI," do you mean the actor was AI-generated, or the character was scripted/written by AI? Feels like those collapse into the same conversation way too often, but they read very differently to me.

A few people want AI movies. Mostly AI fans and users and people selling AI services. Of course they do. It makes sense. People do care if the character in a movie is AI or a human actor. They care a LOT. Even fans of AI care. Are there some people who don't care? Yes. But people do care. Not that this is even a thing, yet. Name a movie with an AI character that people didn't care about or cared about. Just one. You're making a claim about a thing that doesn't exist. Maybe say "people won't care..." if it happens. AI isn't crushing Hollywood. Everything about that is nonsensical. We're not in "the midst of the last 'batch' of human celebrities. They are celebrities because they are human. We will continue to celebrate people for doing people things, and acting is one of those things. You do raise an interesting side convo - "is Mickey Mouse a celebrity or intellectual property?"

Is literacy elitism? It once was. Everyone should learn about AI — and they will. The best part? Prompt it to teach you anything. Like all real progress, it’s iterative. “Learning by doing” is the process of experience. Struggle is how muscles grow, brains develop, and character is built. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it right away. Keep at it. In sports they say, “pressure is a privilege.” Likewise, learning and adapting to this new world is a privilege.
