Omarchy 4 is going all-in on Quickshell. I mean, just look at these gorgeous background and theme selectors!

Just found out an active File Pilot community member @thomasklemenc made a task manager inspired by it! Handmade from scratch, C++, win32, D3D custom renderer, 1.55 MB. More of this in my feed, less AI slopware.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was spotted eating Beijing’s famous fried bean sauce noodles. Huang, who is in Beijing as part of Donald Trump’s state visit to China, seemed perfectly content relishing the local staple right on the sidewalk. Follow our coverage from the summit: bloom.bg/3PDfoVX

I think we shouldn't recycle copper because copper thieves are fucking retarded

Microsoft: PowerShell is simple and easy to use. Actual PowerShell command: Remove-MgIdentityAuthenticationEventFlowAsOnGraphAPretributeCollectionExternalUserSelfServiceSignUpAttributeIdentityUserFlowAttributeByRef No, this isn't a joke. This was noted by @NathanMcNulty

my dream OS would be - looks like windows 7 - runs all windows app natively - the privacy and security of linux

1. Not less, not more than RHEL for example. And the plus side of that is you can tailor your distribution as you see fit. 2. You just don't. You can definitely install software as a non-privilege user. But you can restrict the execution outside of some filesystems and/or directory. Which is awesome, and a big plus for security. If you prevent non-privilege users from running self-installed software, you reduce dramatically the attack surface. (Such parameters exist as well in windows btw) 3. And we know how good Microsoft is at producing quality software. You get the same (paid) overworked and amateur developers working at Microsoft. You just don't see it because it is closed source. Not seeing a problem doesn't make it disappear. Did you know that the vast majority of Microsoft Azure runs on Linux? Why do you believe Microsoft spend so much time, money and energy developing Linux software if their product was so much better?

Okay here goes. 1. One of the benefits of BSDs/Windows/Mac is that the entire operating system is a single package developed by the BSD/Windows/Mac devs. instead of being a collection of packages from random projects we all happen to share. 2. Really do not like the fact we need to use root to install packages. There's no reason why i should need to use root to install neovim or steam all non system packages should be shoved in a seperate piece of storage that is aware of both per user or multiuser installs. (nix is cool) 3. Most of the people working on your applications are unpaid, overworked, or amateurs. Not necessarily the people working on your distro. But if you combine it with 1 and 2 you start realizing how much power random people on github have over your system. Now make no mistake there's a few things we do better than Windows but also not that better. For example the fact we ship mostly open drivers ourselves is a good thing. However we should probably start moving towards drivers in the userspace as much as possible. Android started doing that and I think it's the correct approach. I could certainly see a linux-drivers project working in tandem with linux and linux-firmware.
