The bottom line is swim programs burn cash and are an easy cut for an AD. Pools are expensive, travel is expensive, and we haven’t prioritized becoming an asset as much as we should have been for the last 50+ years. Until we make money, we should act as if we’re always on the chopping block. Because we are.

@beefyTshields Hey Tom, was watching some of your old race videos and noticed you and some other Cal guys breathed two up two down in butterfly. Wondering the reasoning behind that as opposed to the more common one up one down?

@Braden_Keith WSL has like 4-8 hour days and rotates a team of like 4-7 every few hours for this reason. Also gives different perspectives. Would be good to do that imho. Also could let the color ppl specialize like they did in their career

Working meets like the World Championships on the media side is a GRIND. It's 8 days, morning, afternoon, and night. Nobody can go full-speed for the whole time. At the Olympic Trials last year, I took one prelims session off to go play pickleball (and thanks to our amazing team, we didn't miss a beat). I feel for the commentary teams that don't get that day off. I wonder if NBC/etc have ever considered bringing in a new crew for the last half of the meet to keep them fresh. Go to the bullpen on day 4/5. #Fukuoka2023

Leon Marchand once quit swimming because the water was too cold, and honestly, fair. What we need are pools that are warm when you get in and then get gradually cooler as you warm up and need that colder water. Can someone invent this please? news.asu.edu/20230710-sun-d…

@Braden_Keith @BarryRevzin Probably isn’t coaches. “We spent XX(X) million, he plays” is certainly still a prevailing mindset in the big 4 with the exception of maybe baseball

@BarryRevzin I guess. But by now, the evidence is there that they should make a move. I feel like coaches have fetishized the "Jordan Flu Game" syndrome and want to be the visionary who saw through the injury to leave their star in.

The NBA is wild to me. I can’t understand the philosophy where Jayson Tatum with a sprained ankle is a better option than the next guy on your bench. Is the gap really that big?

Fighter jet pilot demonstrates centripetal force, a concept that Isaac Newton discovered between 1676 and 1677. However, the concept of centripetal force was not actually discovered in a single event or by a single individual but rather evolved over time through the works of multiple scientists and thinkers. Here is a brief history of the development of our understanding of centripetal force: Ancient Greece: The ancient Greeks, particularly philosophers such as Aristotle and later Archimedes, made observations and formulated theories about the motion of objects. However, they did not have a clear understanding of centripetal force as a distinct concept. Islamic Scholars: During the Islamic Golden Age, scholars such as Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and Ibn Bajjah (Avempace) made significant contributions to the understanding of motion. They discussed the idea of impetus, a precursor to the concept of centripetal force. Johannes Kepler: In the 17th century, Johannes Kepler, a German astronomer and mathematician, formulated his laws of planetary motion. Kepler's laws described the motion of planets around the sun and the concept of elliptical orbits. Although Kepler did not explicitly mention centripetal force, his work laid the foundation for later developments. Isaac Newton: In the late 17th century, Sir Isaac Newton, an English physicist and mathematician, published his groundbreaking work, "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy" (also known as the Principia). In this work, Newton presented his laws of motion and the universal law of gravitation. Newton's laws, particularly the second law of motion, provided a mathematical understanding of centripetal force. He demonstrated that an object moving in a curved path experiences an inward force acting towards the center of the curve, which is now known as centripetal force. Further Developments: Following Newton's work, subsequent scientists, such as Jean le Rond d'Alembert and Daniel Bernoulli, expanded on the understanding of centripetal force in the context of mechanics and fluid dynamics. It's important to note that the discovery and understanding of centripetal force were gradual processes that involved the contributions of numerous individuals over centuries. The concept became firmly established with the development of Newtonian physics and its laws of motion.

Are these all the same person?! All missing the point and within minutes of each other. Do they not understand how many great swimmers we lose because of these boring meets. 20 hour weekend in hot pool versus football match with your mates on a stir day morning done by 12
