“Sa gitna ng mga pagsubok na kinakaharap natin, alam kong marami ang nagtatanong: ‘Paano na tayo?’” - Atty. @lenirobredo Atty. Leni Robredo reminds us that while uncertainty can make us fear what comes next, we cannot allow ourselves to be consumed by despair and helplessness.

One thing is clear tonight: the Duterte-allied Senate bloc is willing to plunge the institution into chaos and to weaponise fear, all to shield one of their own from accountability.

Eleven of the 13 senators behind Monday's Senate coup are facing active or unresolved investigations. Can a chamber hounded by accountability questions truly hold one of the country’s most powerful officials to account? Read: pcij.org/2026/05/13/the…

The protection now being extended to Senator Bato is the same protection this state denied thousands of Filipinos during the bloody years of the drug war. No warrants served with caution. No guarantees of due process. No Senate shielding them from arrest. No powerful institution rushing to defend their rights after they were branded guilty without trial. For years, ordinary Filipinos were told that fear, violence, and death were necessary. Now that accountability is approaching the powerful, suddenly the language has changed to rights, dignity, and protection under the law. The hypocrisy is staggering.

It’s a temporary setback….we didn’t give up in previous battles when the odds were far greater and yet we prevailed, we certainly will not give up now. Para sa bayan. Walang bibitiw. Tuloy lang. Laban! 🇵🇭🇵🇭❤️🙏🙏

The House successfully impeached VP Sara Duterte again. And the nation awaits the Senate to do their constitutional duty to proceed with the impeachment trial forthwith. As we speak, more than three million Filipinos from across the country already signed (and still growing!!) calling for the constitutional process of impeachment to freely proceed. A fair warning to the Senators, including the new leadership, that millions are watching. Respect the Constitution, start the impeachment trial now! During ERAP’s impeachment trial, we sort of knew we didn't have the numbers to convict. But what mattered was the evidence was being presented to the Filipino people. And the moment the majority blocked the 2nd envelope, the people became the judges. We are not powerless here.

If this impeachment is blocked by a very political Senate, it’s time for EDSA revolution — against the DDS Senators.

I have followed the proceedings, and I am convinced that the complaint filed and evidence presented warrant the conduct of the impeachment trial. Reaching the Senate does not mean she is already guilty. The House's exercise of its constitutional duty requires the impeached official to answer. Due process dictates it. Decency expects it. The Filipino public deserves it. impeachsaraduterte.com

There goes the Senate, its fall from its grace and hollowing out from within as it became a playground for dynasties and the Dutertes. Before the impeachment trial against VP Sara even begins, the chamber is already being rearranged to guarantee paralysis, delay, or acquittal. And so the tragedy of the Senate is complete: once imagined as the home of statesmanship and the promises of our republic, it now risks becoming just another refuge for impunity and trapo politics.

If Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is removed as Senate President today, then let us stop pretending this is about “leadership change.” This is political surrender. Senator Alan Cayetano’s bloc is making one thing clear — they would rather protect the Dutertes than defend the Constitution and the independence of the Senate. History will remember the senators who chose loyalty to power over loyalty to the Filipino people. Shame on them.
