Wokingham and District Beekeepers invited the Deputy Mayor to the planting of their Alder (Alnus glutinosa 'Aurea' ) in the King George V park on a very wet Sunday in April. The tree is part of the BBKA's 150 anniversary celebrations.

These rivers have all tested +ve for thiamethoxam since 2020 (data from Env Agency). This neonicotinoid was banned in Europe in 2018, but is allowed on sugar beet crops in UK. That is its only authorised use. Yet it is turning up in rivers all over the place... Hugely concerning.

That’s the first I’ve ever heard of that. That sounds like a bit of a “story”. If that was the case they would not be allowed to sell them+ containers are used to transport everything from food to machinery. Every trip is different. I would have thought if anything radioactive was on them there would be a big ☢️ sticker on it and not used for general shipping. This one was £1650+VAT delivered.
