Cambodia should exercise restraint and immediately cease all acts of violent aggression, in the interest of the peoples of both nations. As the Minister of Finance of Thailand, I urge the Cambodian side to end hostilities without delay and allow diplomatic processes to resume. Peaceful dialogue is a prerequisite for fostering sustainable economic and trade cooperation between our two countries. Most importantly, the safety of civilian lives and property must be upheld at all costs. The targeting of hospitals, schools, petrol stations, and convenience stores — facilities that serve the daily lives of ordinary citizens — constitutes a grave violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and international humanitarian law. I must emphasize that such actions will only risk isolating Cambodia on the international stage and may ultimately undermine its own national interests — both in terms of global confidence and long-term economic opportunities. Furthermore, the continued attacks raise serious questions regarding the credibility and reliability of Cambodia’s leadership in the eyes of the international community, especially given the repeated commitments to peace that have not been upheld, with incidents continuing as recently as this morning. Peace is the foundation of prosperity. Respect for human life is the cornerstone of enduring stability.

BREAKING: The Cambodian Army is using refugees from the border area as human shields. They are moving their Grad MLRS systems into position by taking cover among civilians, hoping it will keep the Thai Air Force from striking them.
