sucks that gamers are being annoying over Mixtape for really stupid reasons when the game sucks because it’s saccharine, stomach-churningly romanticized nostalgia bait

I see the point you're trying to make, but your argument is self-contradictory. If "proximity" is an issue, then being counted as being part of the same medium (video games) is, itself, proximity. There were far fewer "games" like Mixtape even a decade ago, let alone two decades ago. We can't just pretend that non-interactive amusement park ride "games" are somehow in their own bubble where they can't influence proper video games. That's how we got "action games" that disguise their non-action elements and simplify their action mechanics. After all, games are part of a market at the end of the day, and every developer would rather sell more copies than sell fewer. So devs are faced with a choice between catering to a wider audience of people who "play" anti-games or watch others play games on Twitch, or keeping their appeal narrow for a more specific audience. APRGs, immersive sims, etc have been around a lot longer than Dark Souls and it wasn't until the huge explosion in gaming's mass appeal that we really saw pure action games decline and recede into the indie scene. As much as I personally find Soulslikes boring, they are at least actual games that require interactivity from the player and understanding of the game's systems. Souls players tend not to like pure action games like DMC or Ninja Gaiden, and vice-versa. And that's fine, if anything, these different styles of action game are pretty well-sequestered from one another. But button prompt windowdressing in games like Mixtape, where player input doesn't affect the progression of the game or influence events at all, have bled into nearly every genre at this point. It has become totally normalized in AAA moviegames. You're correct that these elements are often disguised and obfuscated to the detriment of those games, but it's been to the detriment of games as a medium.

Mixtape update. I'll finish this game another time. I just can't. It's a walking simulator with no items, levels, etc. Like that crappy Gone Home game a few years back. The music is all 80s synth pop or crappy college radio shoegaze. The two female characters live in nice houses with private bathrooms and everything they could ever want and I'm supposed to feel like they're so disenfranchised by overbearing control freak parents. Gimme a fucking break. The only 2 buttons I've had to press are up and A. Even the minigames? if you can call them that are pointless. So much of the conversations are them reliving memories with shitty little press A or RT games to fill up time. It tells me all I need to know about the people that made Mixtape. A bunch of spoiled brat shitheads that don't know a fucking thing about the 90s or videogames. They lost me when the MC started harping about how motorcycles suck because they bought the privilege of being loud without earning it. Much like the characters are trying to sound rebellious and punk without any hard challenges in life whatsoever. Take that fucking college fem-lit shit somewhere else and keep it out of my video games. Also, the way its animated gave me a migraine. Should've made this an artsy film where all the liberal retards could pat themselves on the back at Cannes for capturing the essence of the entitled teenager. 🥳

The car @RekietaLaw was seen driving is a Nissan NV. It was sold in the US from 2011 to 2021. The car is at least five years old. It originally MSRP'd at $31,540 – $36,280. (AI researched, as new ones aren't sold.) Nick's Lincoln Navigator was the family car and was fully tricked out, making it cost well over 100K when he purchased it at the height of his career.

We have more photos of alleged child doser @RekietaLaw out in the wild, by the same user who provided the earlier Rustang photos. All I can say is publicly beefing and actively antagonizing with someone who has fans local to your area is generally not a smart move. At least people aren't leaving Nick cobs of corn like they did with Ralph.

It is honestly fascinating to watch the anti-woke gaming outrage machine completely run out of gas in real time. We have reached a point where the grifters driving this movement can no longer rely on actual video games to generate their daily dose of anger. They are now fully dependent on complete fabrication to keep the lights on and the clicks rolling in. Take a look at what just happened with the discourse surrounding Saros. Instead of finding real issues or actual forced diversity to complain about, these outrage peddlers had to literally prompt an AI image generator to create a fake screenshot. They passed this fabricated image off as a real asset just to spark a phony controversy and rile up their base. It is a remarkably desperate move for a crowd that claims to care so much about authenticity and ethics in gaming. Then there is the situation with Mixtape. The desperation here was somehow even more pathetic. They decided to invent an entirely false narrative from whole cloth about the game being some kind of woke propaganda piece. When reality failed to match their pre written script, they just opened Photoshop and doctored fake Steam user reviews to make it look like actual players were revolting. It is all smoke and mirrors at this point. The desperation does not stop with games that are currently in the public eye either. They are already launching preemptive strikes against unreleased titles because they simply cannot wait for new material. Look at how they are targeting 007: First Light. They are manufacturing a massive backlash for a game that we barely know anything about. They are even doing the exact same thing to Grand Theft Auto VI. That game is not even coming out until November, yet they are already spinning their wheels trying to dictate a narrative of impending ruin based on absolutely nothing. They are attempting to poison the well months in advance to ensure their audience is angry before they even see a start screen. So why are they taking this specific tactic right now? The answer comes down to simple economics. Their entire business model is built on sustaining an endless culture war. The problem for them is that the actual video game industry is just not cooperating with their doom narrative. Developers are making good games, and the general audience is busy playing and enjoying them without a second thought. Since reality is no longer providing the necessary fuel for their outrage engine, they have absolutely no choice but to manufacture it from scratch. If they stop posting things for their audience to be mad at, the engagement stops, the algorithm abandons them, and the money dries up entirely. They have built an audience that demands a constant feed of things to hate. It is a profoundly hollow existence. Resorting to AI fakes, Photoshopped reviews, and attacking games that do not even have a release date shows exactly how creatively and morally bankrupt the whole grift has become. They are no longer commentators reacting to the industry. They are just fiction writers trying to keep a dying scam alive.

The new Astronaut Slop-based game, Directive 8020, receives another "Peak Reddit Masterpiece score" from IGN, with an 8/10. In just a few months, this is the second diverse Astronaut game following Aphelion. The two games combined can't reach more than 500 current players.
