Chuffed to join the @czi awesome scientific network with my good friend @euforna! Can't wait to meet everyone in July, a lot of RNA black belts including @lucksmith and @SchrattL . Worth waiting a week for the announcement, so that I can share the limelight with @_chrisgparker_

Congrats to @_chrisgparker_ and @LippiLab for their @ChanZuckerberg (CZI) awards in aging and #Alzheimers research. Parker's work in RNA metabolic networks and Lippi's research on non-coding RNA in neurodegeneration contribute significantly to the field. ow.ly/2hhL50QJt2q

#JNeurosci: Pushkin, Kay, and @beherring @USC identify protein 4.1N as a critical regulator of glutamatergic synapse structure and function in the rat dentate gyrus and showed that perforant pathway synapses are governed by a unique molecular program.

Latest from the lab now out in #JNeurosci @SfNJournals. Protein 4.1N plays a cell type-specific role in hippocampal synaptic regulation. Immensely proud of our graduate student Anna Pushkin for carrying out this very impressive study.

Thrilled to present our manuscript out today in @CellCellPress. A tour-de-force on anaphylatoxin complement receptors - 9 (!!!) unique GPCR structures: C3aR/C5aR1, biased/partial/full agonist, Go/Gq, mouse/human. doi.org/10.1016/j.cell…

Over the last decade or so, there had been several observations showing T cell receptor (TCR) signaling was altered when the nuclear transcription factor RARA was absent. No one really knew why...
There is a cytoplasmic isoform associated with the TCR!

@PokamPunam @NINDSfunding Got the first one in 2019. From my experience on study section, applications are evaluated almost exclusively on their merit. Funding status of other unrelated projects is not a score driving consideration. That's my take, but others may feel differently.
English

@beherring @NINDSfunding Great - just wondering when you got your first R01. I am applying for my second R01 and I got my first R01 in 22 - wondering if the timeline is important.
This second grant is on another subject...
English

For years I've been told that the second #R01 is the toughest to get. Just received the NOA for R01 #2!! Huge thanks again to @NINDSfunding for their continued support and to my incredible lab members. Can't wait to see where this new direction takes us. #schizophrenia
