Justice Yashwant Varma has resigned. And that is the end of the corruption proceedings against him. No High Court or Supreme Court judge in India has ever been punished for corruption since independence. If a judge faces allegations of corruption, the Supreme Court itself examines them and may then recommend impeachment by Parliament. If the judge resigns before impeachment, the matter is closed. Though technically an FIR can still be filed after resignation, governments do not do so. They never have. So technically, Justice Varma walks free with pension, benefits, and title intact. Wishing honorable Justice Varma a pleasant and joyful post retirement life.

If you visited Tirupati between 2019 and 2024, chances are the prasad laddoo you ate was actually made of chemicals and animal fat, not real ghee. CBI found that Pammil Jain and Vipin Jain ran Bhole Baba Organic Dairy in Haridwar. They did not buy a single drop of milk or butter, yet supplied 6.8 million kg of “ghee” worth ₹250 crore to Tirupati during those years. Delhi-based chemical trader Ajay Kumar supplied monoglycerides, acetic acid and esters used to make the fake ghee. This company was blacklisted in 2022 over adulteration complaints. But they continued supplying ghee through front companies under new names: Vaishnavi Dairy (Tirupati), Mal Ganga Dairy (UP), and AR Dairy (TN). I doubt this company would have bypassed the ban without help from TTD insiders. They could have earned plenty even with real ghee. But corruption and immorality are default settings for most of us. Every situation becomes a chance to squeeze every last drop of money, even if millions fall sick, even if their faith is insulted. It doesn’t matter. No conscience, no ethics, no respect for fellow human beings.

कुछ घटनाएँ, अपने होने के वर्षों पश्चात् अपना उचित उद्देश्य बता पाती हैं। बांग्लादेश में जब शेख हसीना की सरकार ने दंगाइयों पर गोली चलवाई थी, तब मैंने भी लिखा था कि भारत ने ऐसा क्यों नहीं किया? और लम्बे समय तक, चाहे CAA हो या किसान आंदोलन, मैंने हिंसक प्रदर्शनों से निपटने हेतु ‘वेट एंड वाच’ की जगह ‘आयरन हैंड’ के प्रयोग की बात लिखी। सरकार चुप रही, हमारे जैसे समर्थकों से गाली सुनती रही। परंतु, अब लगता है कि लाल किले पर चढ़े खालिस्तानी पर केवल एक गोली मारने की ही देरी थी, यही भीड़ लाल किले से संसद की ओर हो लेती। राजदीप ने इसी समय एक युवक के ट्रक से गिरने को पुलिस की गोली बताई थी। फैक्टचेक तुरंत हुआ और वह बात बढ़ी नहीं। वैसे ही, CAA आंदोलन के समय जामिया नगर में एक व्यक्ति को पुलिस द्वारा गोली मारने की बात खूब चली थी। कारतूस भी दिखाए जा रहे थे, पर बाद में पता चला कि आपस में ही मारी गई थी। अतः, अपनी दूरदर्शिता और विषयपरक अनुभव के अभाव के कारण जो बातें पूर्व में लिखीं, वह अब अनुचित और त्रुटिपूर्ण लगती हैं। सरकार में लोग हैं जो संभवतः चीजों की भयावहता को स्पष्ट रूप से देख पाते हैं। @narendramodi @PMOIndia का आभार कि उन्होंने इस देश की अराजकता को सीमित समय तक अराजक रहने दे कर, लॉन्ग टर्म के लिए उसे शांत रखा है।

Karnataka SBI Language Issue: 1. As per Constitution, central govt employees are mandated to know only Hindi and English. 2. In the context of banking, RBI guidelines mandate the use of local languages for signage, forms, and hiring local staff to bridge communication gaps with the public. But even RBI guidelines do not "mandate" that central govt employees must speak the local language of every state they are posted to. 3. Such a demand is logistically impractical. They might be posted in Karnataka today, Kerala tomorrow, and later in Himachal or Bengal. Expecting them to learn a new language every few years is unfeasible. 4. For decades, central govt employees have worked across diverse regions without linguistic friction. There has always been local staff, security guard, or a fellow customer to help overcome language barriers. The recent surge in language-based objections is simply politically motivated. 5. If there's a genuine concern about language compatibility, the appropriate course is to petition the state govt, which can then take it up with the Centre through proper channels. If their services are not welcome, states are free not to avail them, open accounts in your local bank, boycott SBI, but making employees scapegoats for larger political narratives helps no one. 6. Dear Kannadigas, yours is a civilization that is thousands of years old. There have been periods in history when external forces attempted to suppress your language and culture by the sword, yet you endured. If you could withstand such existential threats in the past, there is no way your culture or language can be under threat now. No one is imposing Hindi on you; this narrative is politically motivated. At a time when far more serious challenges confront us, it is unwise to be divided over issues that are, in the larger context, relatively minor. Let us not allow our internal differences to become a source of strength for those who wish to see us perish.
