Geez my post about giving my neighbor a hand with her hot water tank blew up. Leaving soon to get the new tank but I wanted to let some of you know a few things. First I was a carpenter for many years. My father taught me everything I know about construction, trades. I do know what I am doing. I’m not an idiot. I don’t need to watch a YouTube video on doing whatever. Second I’m not asking for praise. If there’s one thing I like about X is reading the good things in life. I thought this was a good thing. Most of my neighbors are elderly. In the winter my son and I will clean the snow of their driveways. We help them clean up their leaves. When the power is out we check on them. It’s not about looking for a “medal “ it’s about doing the right thing.

Pull the stick out of your ass Nancy boy. Pretty sure he didn’t come here for your two cents on what he was doing. And yeah those scary water heaters…I’m an IT guy by trade but managed to replace two of them in my life and no one died and we had hot water. Imagine that! Sounds like you are the very reason we have warning stickers. And you’ve seen many good deeds like this go badly, eh? Lots of exploding water heaters in your neck of the woods? Whatever. Just stop being an A hole for the sake of being an A hole.

You just made my point, but you’re too stuck up to realize it. Just because the water heater heats water and doesn’t leak (maybe), doesn’t mean he did a complete service for her. My mild suggestions were for him to simply take some instruction, whether from me or a YT video to be certain he wasn’t creating a bigger problem. Heck, if he’s a carpenter, I’m sure he knows some plumbers to get advice from, if not help him install it. I spent a career following behind people who thought they were doing a good thing. I wonder if he checked all the reasons a water can burst? 🤔

@beingleewood @cc_potts @angelojello74 @LunarStrong If you want to try and run someone's life support, you can. It's not as simple as pushing buttons and making the machine run, you have to have an understanding of ABG interpretation then pulmonary pathophysiology on how to program the machine so your patient doesn't die.

I’ve already answered that question by using the word “rare”. I used that extremely rare instance to make a point that you just never know. He didn’t specify whether it was electric or gas and I wasn’t going to list every mistake I’ve seen over a career going behind people who thought they new enough or that it wasn’t a big deal. Again, if you actually read my original reply, I was simply stating that his confidence in installing a water heater was troubling and that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to watch a couple YT videos that he said he didn’t need and to maybe pull some permits to back up his work. At the very least, I guarantee that water heater won’t make it through the warranty period and she’ll be right back in the same position, but worse.

I guess you’re struggling with the word “rare” or didn’t you actually take the time to read the whole post. If the tank bursted, I’m wondering if he took the time to figure why, other than old age. Maybe the guy before him plugged it off or didn’t install it properly and he just followed them over the cliff. That’s the whole point. I wonder if he checked the pressure coming in off the street? I wonder if he installed a new thermal expansion tank, probably not if there wasn’t one there to begin with. I have no problem with helping out a neighbor, but if you’re going to help make sure you follow through. I’m pretty sure if he was helping her across the street, he’d at least look both ways before venturing out into the path of cars.

Some would say there’s a term for this.. Anecdotal fallacy. So what you’re saying is, that if someone can perform your skill successfully as a respiratory therapist without adequate knowledge just “once” , that you wouldn’t mildly suggest they should follow it up with someone who has? Or are you just trying to take the lofty opinion your trade is above mine?

I’m not trying to squash your good deed, but being a carpenter doesn’t qualify you to install a water heater, correctly. Calling it a “hot water heater” doesn’t give me great confidence you know as much as you should. In rare instances, water heaters can become just like a bomb, whether it’s a gas or electric water heater, so watching a few YT videos might not be a bad idea. In addition, applying for a permit and allowing an inspector to give you some free consultation would be appropriate. Outside of the simple labor to install a water heater, making sure it’s safe, it’s up to code, and is installed correctly is a great deed in itself. I’ve seen many good deeds end badly in this situation, unfortunately.

Listening to this woman makes me sick to my stomach—I’m sorry, no disrespect here. It is just a typical $TSLA 🐂 who doesn’t understand the difference between investing in a stock and falling in love with the stock, and the difference between long-term investment and a never-sell mindset failure! Y’all need to understand that taking money off the table (profit), no matter how big or small, is not a bad thing. But taking profit repeatedly and not letting your investment grow is not good if you’re planning on getting rich. Jimmy, you’re contradicting yourself now?! No—you have limited viability and limited thinking. That’s why you’re unable to discern the difference. Get past your limitation (comfort zone) and see the world differently. Only then will you know your potential! Much love to all !!

@SuddleyDuddley @angelojello74 @LunarStrong In the real world, it only takes somebody plugging off the T&P valve, because it was leaking and one of the thermostats to fail and continue to heat the water. As I said in the original post, it’s a rare occurrence, but not impossible.

They started with a standard 52-gallon electric water heater. They disabled or removed all safety features: Removed/plugged the temperature and pressure relief (T&P) valve. Bypassed the high-temperature cutoff switch on the heating elements. Sealed the inlet and outlet pipes so nothing could

@lady_valor_07 Of course! If you’re armed, they could soon become armed. If you’re not armed, they are armed. The threat is when they crossed the threshold, uninvited.

Even if an intruder is unarmed, should you still be allowed to shoot them for breaking into your house?..

@BoBbyPleWniaK I wouldn’t characterize absence of sellers a recovery. Volume has been very low, so it looks more like a divergence. TSLA still has some room at the bottom.

Still hard to believe $TSLA has dumped 8 weeks in a row, especially when QQQ has recovered substantially over the last two weeks. Many have thrown in the towel on TSLA and are chasing something else. $TSLA has broken many hearts and will continue to do so. She’s not an easy ticker to hold. You have to be a special kind of crazy, have faith in Elon, and avoid the noise. The noise can be overwhelming at times. Do what you gotta do. I’ve made my bed and sleep well at night.
