In 2024, #MO01 voted out Cori Bush, calling for better and more accountable representation. On Aug. 4, St. Louisans will have the opportunity to reaffirm their decision. This district deserves a representative who is focused on them, not someone who only looks out for herself.

Earlier this week, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch endorsed my campaign. I’d like to tell you a little bit about why I’m particularly grateful. The Post-Dispatch is the paper that I grew up with. The paper that helped define my understanding of historic moments, Cardinals games in the dog days of summer (hello, Home Run Derby champion Jordan Walker!), and everything in between. The paper that brought the whole St. Louis region into my home, and transported me out into the world wherever there was a story worth telling. On many occasions, when we might have doubted our common humanity, the Post-Dispatch has helped break down silos and shown just how much we have in common with our neighbors. Their endorsement means that the people who know and cover our region believe that our vision is the right approach for this district. Service is in my DNA. My mom is a county civil servant and my dad was a police officer. So, I decided to serve — as a teacher, as a judge, on the Ferguson City Council, as the prosecutor for the biggest county in Missouri, and now as a member of Congress. I believe in showing up, listening first, and showing respect for every person, no matter their background or beliefs. I also believe that progressives should actually make progress. It’s not enough to just talk about solutions. We have to be able to find a way to actually deliver. I’m honored to have earned the Post-Dispatch’s endorsement, just like I did in 2024. And I’m proud to have the opportunity to continue working for the people of this district.

The most basic part of this job is showing up. Cori Bush missed nearly 250 votes in Congress, almost 20% of all votes. How many of us could miss work that many times and expect to keep our jobs? St. Louis deserves a representative who shows up. Every day.

Either Cori Bush lied to her donors about raising money for tornado victims, or she's lying to us now about where the money went. St. Louis deserves the truth.

To me, representing #MO01 means bringing resources home to modernize Lambert Airport, help our neighbors recover from last year's tornado damage, and keep our communities safe from gun violence. But Cori Bush saw it differently. This district deserves someone who will get up every day thinking about them, not someone who gets up every day thinking about herself.

Progressives should actually make progress. That's been my North Star as long as I've been a public servant. For every issue that we need to tackle in Congress — lowering costs, better health care, safer neighborhoods, creating jobs — I'm proud to get up every day and work towards progress where I can, and when I can. That's the type of leadership I'm proud to bring to Congress on behalf of my constituents.

Donald Trump is once again trying to mess with the midterm elections by making it harder for Democrats to vote. But we're not going to let him. The right to vote is a fundamental pillar of our democracy. Every eligible American must have fair and equal access to the ballot box. I've been fighting for justice my entire career, including increasing access to the ballot box. In Congress, I've helped introduce the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, a bill that carries forward the legacy of one of the great civil rights leaders in our country's history. Yesterday, a bomb threat was called in to Dar-ul-Islam, the largest mosque in the St. Louis region. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis is a pillar of our community. They are our friends and our neighbors. We stand with them in the face of harassment and intimidation. I also want to applaud the law enforcement and emergency responders for their quick actions to diffuse the threat and keep our community members safe. St. Louis is a place where everyone is free to practice their faith. As long as I have the privilege of representing this community, I'll make sure that we lead with the values of compassion, unity, and resilience.
